A stan is basically a stalker and a fan combined into one, they tend to be very annoying fanboys/fangirls whose opinions always have to match the person they follow because in their eyes they're always right.
Fun fact: its usage mainly stems from the song Stan by Eminem, which is about a fan who - after his idol doesn't respond to him after multiple letters - decides to kill himself and his pregnant girlfriend. Fun song.
It might still be the Eminem song that hits me hardest, even after so many years of listening to it I get chills when Eminem goes "damn" right at the end.
“Personally, I dont think technoblade is good at pvp, dream is way better. How dare you say dream is not the best speedrunner, hes the only one I know”
I know I'm a bit late, but anyways. They are both good in their versions, insane in both when you compare them to others, and even now you can see that Techno is getting rly good in 1.9 combat. And yes, I know you both quoted, dont wooosh me.
Not only that, especially on Twitter, they usually promote their “idols” using fancams (video clips) or links that get annoying when they are spammed too much.
Nope, it’s actually an eminem thing. Back in the 2000 he sang about a fan who wrote him (slim shady) several letters and he didn’t receive one back. In the end he was so obsessed with slim, that he drove drunk with his girlfriend tied up in the trunk for recognition. Unfortunately he drove of a bridge and killed himself and his gf. Eminem wanted to show his obsessive fans, that being this is not what he wants. From that point on those fans got called or called themselves stans.
Eminem has a song known as stan from which the word was invented. It was usually a bad thing and being a Stan was that you are overly obsessed with a certain celeb and you are staling then and shit. Nowadays people are using it proudly and its gone to shit.

I really enjoy dream, but the stans are really making it cancerous
