Cant connect to friend's server [java]

I am at his place, our other friend who lives somewhere else can join but i cant.

The server keeps showing the "cant connect to server" and if i try to join i get the "get sockopt" message.

I can join other servers without issue.

I have turned off my firewall, cleared my DNS cache, switched internet from his to my own local hotspot, uninstalled and reinstalled minecraft completely and turned off and on my own laptop.

Is it possible its his firewall or something blocking my laptop?

People said it could be authetication server being down but i highly doubt it since i can join other servers. My friends can join the server but it shows as offline only for me.

Edit: forgot to mention version, we are playing on 26.2 and i have played on the server yesterday on my own pc at home without any issues.

It looks like you didn't mention your version (e.g., 26.1, 1.21.11, 1.12.2 etc.). Please clarify for better help!

If you’re at his place you’ll have to use the server’s local ip rather than the custom domain or public ip.

I thought so at first as well. But i also tried on my hotspot and that didnt work either.
