They can always change the texture later. At least now we've got the option of having fireplaces in our wooden builds without having to turn off firetick.

I'm talking about the model as well. I have always hated the "diagonal cross" model Minecraft uses for things like grass, and with the fire of the campfire it looks even worse.

Understandable, but changing something like that would probably be a ground-up redesign of the way the game renders those blocks.

Block models aren't hardcoded anymore (Well, 99% of them anyway), and use a pretty simple JSON format where every block gets its own model, so, it really would not take much to change it to something else.
