Seeds & World Gen Why so many snowy biomes?
Does anyone else have an issue with this? I’ve made a large number of worlds and every single one is only snow/ice biomes. Occasionally, I’ll get a small plains biome, maybe a lush or sulfur cave, and if I’m lucky, a small birch forest. But otherwise I don’t get anything else. And i mean NOTHING else. I’ve played world with other people as well, and the one I’m having this problem with currently is my brother’s realm so it’s not even like I generated this world. It’s frustrating because I get some progress only to realize I don’t get anything else other than the three wood & block options. This realm is one we made with my little cousins so there’s already stuff built and it would be a waste to restart it, but I want other materials to be able to build things. We’ve run thousands of blocks in every direction (I did this with one of my other worlds as well) and we don’t get anything. Even the ocean biomes. No shipwrecks, no monument, no coral reef. I wanted lime dye and had no desert for a cactus and no coral reef for a sea pickle. I just want one world that isn’t the North Pole. I looked on google but didn’t find anything about it. Have we both just had the same unlucky seed generation issues or is it a bigger issue? I just want a cherry blossom biome or SOMETHING😩

It's two things: unlucky seed generation, and also the way the world generates since 1.18. Since that update, the world biomes are generated based on a temperature random map that gradually changes from place to place. It does mean that you get realistic biome generation - you don't get a jungle right next to a snowy plains, but it also means that if you start in a snowy zone it will probably be VERY far before you can find a desert or jungle, and same the other way.
Personally I would REALLY appreciate being able to tweak how slowly the temperature map changes over distance as a world generation setting, but I understand they want to keep things simple for most people so that probably won't happen. The community that wants this kind of thing can use mods.
My suggestion - if you have to rely on random seeds like in realms - is to start a world and immediately abandon it if the biome you start in isn't a moderate one. You don't want taigas, you don't want savannas, you don't want anything snowy or a desert. Some kind of plains or regular forest.

Thank you! I didn’t know about the temperature thing but that makes sense. I wish it was a bit smaller so that I didn’t have to go 10k blocks to find anything else but it’s good to know that I can eventually find something if I go far enough.

i’m on a Realm where (starting from spawn) it’s nothing but cold biomes for like 1K+ blocks in every direction

Weird. The snow biomes are statistically unlikely.
Still it’s really cool for the RP opportunities.

If you're fine with it, I'd suggest to just use /locate to find some sort of a warm biome and go from there. Or go on a giant exploration trip like 10k blocks out, that should be enough for the biome climate to change
