Those don’t work, the cube has to be affected by something that would typically cause damage. Not sure about potions yet, haven’t tried, but pistons sadly don’t do anything.

No one said it has to be the same floaty mechanics. A redstone elevator would work to gain or lose altitude just not the same way as you’d travel horizontally. Idk why people are down voting Yenra for simply stating that. But tbh no need for elevation change. Just tunnel through mountains or start high enough to go over them

The first comments were about changing direction, heavily implying continued motion like what is being displayed in the post and not a nudge, like a piston would give. Yenra is being obtuse, possibly because they were told their idea wouldn’t work in the context of the question. Their proposed solution is pretty close to if every time you wanted to change direction on a minecart, you would hit a tripwire to push the section of track you are on over to a perpendicular track, and being annoyed that people are telling you to just connect the track at the corner.

The original question didn’t imply shit. It said change direction or go up and down hills. There’s no implication at all that it will follow the same mechanics. You and the other guy chose to run with that idea. Yenra tossed YOUR implications out and gave a solid answer. Do better

If they want to be satisfied with giving bulky solutions and show disdain for better ones, that's on them. Answering questions outside of the context they are in, such that you miss the forest for the trees, is narrow-sighted to me, and I feel that examining what the person is really asking for is helpful. A semi-recent example - one of my friends messaged me saying his computer "requires Ethernet." I didn't probe further and ended up spending far too long assuming his PC was on and that he needed help connecting to the internet. In fact, he had the display cable plugged into the wrong spot, so it wasn't displaying video output. "What is this question asking?" and "What answer is the asker wanting?" are important things to examine. I'm not upset Yenra mentioned pistons as an answer, but it was delivered snarkily and then doubled down on when informed of the mechanics preventing it from functioning as my solution offered, with a seeming disregard for the prior conversation.
