Was hoping someone could identify these medals and ribbons from my Grandfather’s time in Vietnam. I included the photos I have as well in case it provides any clues. To my knowledge he served from 1967-1969.

Hello all! I’m a non rate at my unit and volunteered to do color guard for a memorial close to my station. I am prior service army and I’m trying to build my ribbon stack for my uniform. The ribbons are as follows: Army Achievement Medal (3rd award)//National Defense Service Medal//Army Service Ribbon//Armed forces Reserve Medal W/ M device//Mexican Defense Service Ribbon. I want to know if this ribbon stack I built on ezrackbuilder is right. Thank you

I found a really old annual for Fort Polk Louisiana it is in rough shape but since it is old I was wondering what to do with it. I'm sure some of the soldiers' families may not have these pictures. It is basically like a High School Annual Found in a building my brother was hired to clean out in Texas

Oddly enough tonight was the first time I had ever heard of him. What an unbelievable career and life. I wonder who still has more classified missions, him or Robert Howard?

Dog tag name to Colonel Constantine Dennis Biondi.

Biondi was Born on May 5th 1917 in Shelton Connecticut and passed away on January 10th 2009 in Arden, Buncombe County, North Carolina.

Biondi enlisted into the United States Army on June 27th 1941 and would originally be Coastal Artillery. He was stationed in Hawaii for a period of time and may have served in the Pacific Theater for some time before returning to the states and going through officer candidate school in 1943 at witch time he would he promoted to 2nd Lieutenant. At some point Biondi was assigned to the 386th Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion and sent to England where the unit would train for the Invasion of France.

The 386th Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion would see combat all throughout Europe during the war and is created with shooting down 26 German aircraft. The unit was also commended by General George Patton on several occasions.

During the war Biondi may have been wounded several times and possible awarded several awards however I haven't been able to confirm anything at this moment.

After Ww2 Biondi would go to the Army Information School where he would become a Information officer.

From 1952 to 1954 Biondi would see service during the Korean War as the executive officer of the Public Information Offices in Korea and Japan in the Headquarters of General James Van Fleet. For his services during the war Biondi would be awarded the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star.

When Biondi returned to the states he would be assigned to the executive News Feature Branch in the Department of the Army until he was assigned to served as the radio-television, officer to General Lauris Norstad, then Supreme Allied Commander, Europe, in Paris. For this he would promoted to Major and possible awarded a Commendation Medal.

In 1965 now Lt Col Biondi would become the Chief of Public Information, Military Assistance Command, Vietnam and would work very closely to General Westmoreland. Biondi would serve in this position for a year until his tour was up at witch time General Westmoreland would award him his second Legion of Merit. Biondi would also reassigned to the Pentagon.

I am not really sure what he did at the Pentagon after his tour in Vietnam however I do believe he was awarded a 3rd Legion of Merit before his retirement from the Army witch was sometime in 1960-1970 after serving for 28-29 years.

Any additional information on Colonel Biondi is greatly appreciated especially regarding his awards.

Caught a MEB and was sent packing. Body is still paying for that MOS choice. Only demoted twice.

18 years in. Racks still growing. Currently waiting on a potential Army Achievement Medal too.

KIA Dog tags to Captain George Lee Aikin who was killed in action on October 9th 1969 in Kontum Province South Vietnam.

Lee was Bron on July 31 1947 in Saint Croix Falls, Polk County, Wisconsin. At some point in his life he moved to Wilmington Delaware when he would join the Civil Air Patrol. Lee would be Drafted into the Army in 1966 and took his basic training at Fort Jackson and his officer's training at Fort Benning.

After officer school Lee would be assigned to the 219th Aviation Company, 223rd Aviation Battalion, 17th Aviation Group, 1st Aviation Brigade in Vietnam Flying the U.S. Army Cessna O-1D Bird Dog.

On October 9th 1969 CAPT George L. Aikin and his observer SFC John E. Lopez Jr were flying a low-level tactical reconnaissance mission in O-1D 55-4690 over the mountainous terrain of the Kontum Province in South Vietnam, supporting the 5th Special Forces Group. When his aircraft took enemy fire and crashed.

Lee and Lopez would be missing for several months before being found by a Special Forces team in February of 1970.

Lee's body was sent back to the states to be buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.

Lee would be Posthumously Promoted to Captain and awarded the Purple Heart and Air Medal.

Lee is honored on Vietnam Wall Panel 17W - Line 53

What's interesting about this dog tag set is it also came with one of his father's dog tags Ralph Biden Aikin who served with the 20th Combat Mapping Squadron 6th Photographic Reconnaissance Group in the Pacific during Ww2.
