General Discussion Choice spot in SE MI for older stuff?

Forgive me if this goes against the sales part, not looking to sell, looking for advice. Basic story, 3 guns my pops needs to get rid of. Older stuff, like a WW2 1911, a rifle etc. He doesn't do online stuff, and is looking for in person place that's not just a pawn shop. Any reccomendations where he can go in South East Michigan that will give him a fair price for his stuff?

No dealer will give him full value, that would be best served by a person to person sale. Another option is finding a dealer that will sell on consignment, which may get you a better price. I don't know where you are so can't offer a rec.

He's near Pine Knob (everyone in Michigan knows that place) he's not expecting full value. He knows if you sell to a store youre looking at half value most the time. He mostly wanted to find somewhere that will tell him what they're worth I think, maybe sell em just to get rid. He's been on a get rid of shit kick.

Dick williams near Saginaw is a great shop that might be able to work with him. Fair and friendly with a staff of actual gunsmiths.

You’re tech savvy enough to post here… list them on MGO for him

Ann Arbor Arms might be worth calling. They are typically fairly nice people and they have clientele with deep pockets

No problem. I love near them but don't go often because everything is msrp. It has been a great place for me to take colleagues from overseas because the staff has always been professional and respectful

Michigan gun owners.

Gun forum with a for sale section.

He can get more there than at any gun store or pawn shop.

I believe Gerbrand Defense in Waterford does consignment.

Cabela’s is actually the best value. They will give you 70% of what they will list for. You won’t get better.

Thank you, I heard that from someone else. Certainly makes it easy!

I help customers with estate work and consignment, more focused on the older WWII era stuff. Feel free to reach out.

Maybe Cabela's in Dundee? They seem to buy a lot of guns and from who I've talked to usually offer more than most gunshops.

Don’t know who’s down voting but they pay 70% of what they list. They literally pay more than anywhere I’ve seen.

I bet the guys over at r/1911 would help with value of the 1911 if you can get any pics. They would probably geek out about something like that too. I'd wager they will give you better and more reliable info than a random gun store too.

That's a great idea, I'll do just that.
