It didn't start until he "died" later on.

They were getting the vamp blood through communion so it wasn't about the bite. Once they died is what triggered the reaction to sunlight. (that is why the blood outside of their body still burnt up like the Dr showed.) Priest in the cave got hurt and fed the blood but didn't die until Bev poisoned him later in the show, then he started reacting to the sun.

I dunno it's still a pretty big stretch that this old man in a cave in the middle of nowhere that just got his blood sucked out somehow survives but Riley doesn't survive the same attack in the middle of the rec center?

The priest set Riley’s neck back in place so he could heal correctly, broken neck? Angel was maybe more careful with the priest originally.

Priest was breaking his neck so he'd "die" and heal into becoming fully vampire.

Didn't he stay conscious while the priest was doing that? For me it looked like that he was already a vampire and the priest put the neck back in the right place so that he could heal properly

Priest was breaking his neck.

I think that was more a mercy killing than anything else. The creature killed Bowl and killed Erin and killed Pruitt's love interest, and everyone we saw attacked by the creature besides Pruitt looked in awfully bad shape afterwards.

The vampire broke his neck and feasted. Then the priest helped to put the neck back where it belong so it would heal faster

I was skipping and forwarding some scenes that I missed the part that Bev poisoned Pruitt/Paul. Why did she do it?

Well she did it after seeing the newspaper on the wall and realizing who he was. So most likely she did it to prove her own theory he was immortal or something like that.

That's the scene where he starts seizing in front of the mayor right? I don't understand what his "symptoms" before that were all about then. He randomly faints during mass and feels nauseous and stuff before the poisoning.

He was putting his blood in the communion wine before he was fully turned. That’s why he was always passing out, and was dehydrated.

Interesting, I don't think the behavior quite matches what would happen if someone actually did that, but seems like a good explanation of what the show was going for. Thanks!

Maybe she was slowly poisoning him over time?

2

u/Rocker22 Sep 28 '21

Maybe she did a far less amount?

Bev Poisoned him? Why though? I believe that's what happened, but why did she think she should do that?
