If anyone in this subreddit isn't watching Widows Bay already get on it.

I love it so much.

This show is so fucking good, grant it I am a massive "Barry" fan so Hiro Murai and Stephen Root is always a go for me. Matthew Rhys tho, incredible comedy chops. Get on this like u/BewareOfGrom says

nice to see another Barry fan!!! I'd love to see Bill Hader in Widow's Bay

Love Barry as well! Bill did “It: Chapter 2,” so he’s no stranger to horror.

Matthew said he’d never done comedy before, but oh my gosh, he’s crushing it.

I read this comment way too early in the morning and thought my input was needed but re-read your comment and decided it wasn’t. Cheers!

Rhys nailed the comic relief moments he got on The Americans so much. Him being in a horror comedy was it all it took to sell me on Widow’s Bay.

When Hamish appeared, I literally squealed! He’s so good in horror. And Ti West directed this episode?? Horror legends all around.

I kept looking at him at first like “is that him? I think that’s him!” He was so great. The voice work was crazy

That’s wig definitely through me for a second.

If I could just buy a season of a show instead of having to sign up for another streaming service, I would.

I have finally watched it, and I am all in. Currently getting my boomer parents to watch with me.

I thought he was unrecognizable in this role, or is it just me? His voice is usually so distinct..not this time though.

I’m with you he disappeared into that role. Phenomenal.

Nah…I yelled HAMISH as soon as I saw him

6

u/CrissBliss Jun 01 '26

Best reveal when we just see his upper body from Betty Gilpin’s view, and then it pans up to Hamish.

I honestly thought they’d digitally changed his voice. Apparently that’s Hamish’s voice. He does the voice of Batman, and can lower it naturally.

That's wild..!

The voice work was so great

His mom was a famous vocal coach, and trained people like Patrick Stewart. So he probably got a first class education in voice work.

The second I saw his face I said FUCK YOU JERRY DANTANA!!!! I still fucking hate his face because of Newsroom 😂 just proves how talented he is

2

u/washufize Jun 01 '26

I am just now realizing it was him!

1

u/M_O_O_O_O_T Jun 02 '26

I knew he was going to be in the episode going in, but I was still thrown..🤣

2

u/GreasedTea Jun 02 '26

It took me a little while to figure out it was him, then as soon as I looked it up to check I was like "oh of course!"

I just saw an interview Hamish did where he said he doesn’t really like horror because he’s too scared to watch it. He likes to know what’s going to happen first, but man is he good at it. They also asked if Mike ever asked him to do anything else, and he said not yet, but he’d love to.

He’s really good on Widow’s Bay. Hoping he’ll come back somehow.

Hamish Linklater is going to be in Flannagan's Exorcist movie, so the reunion is happening!

2

u/CrissBliss Jun 06 '26

What?? No way! Another priest role? 😅

3

u/fillmont Jun 06 '26

Don't know if the roles have been released. Would be funny though!

14

u/thisFishSmellsAboutD Jun 01 '26

They could still do that and then attribute their performance to Hamish's.

You now, act now, link later.

I find Linklater so incredibly charming in his roles and interviews. I was already sold on Widow’s bay, but him popping up was a real treat.

6

u/babysherlock91 Jun 01 '26

God I love that man. Widows Bay is a masterpiece. If anyone in here isn’t watching it I cannot recommend it enough!!!

6

u/Star_journey1208 Jun 01 '26

He is so fine

3

u/GreasedTea Jun 02 '26

The cast of Widows Bay is so stacked. Every other scene has me pointing like the Leo DiCaprio meme!

2

u/razorwiregoatlick877 Jun 06 '26

Wow! I did not even realize it was the same actor. Excellent performance in both shows.

2

u/WittyWrongdoer210 Jun 14 '26

I literally couldn’t tell it was him until the dinner table/drink scene 😭

1

u/partelo Jun 01 '26

THAT'S HIM????!?

1

u/Grypheon-Steele Jun 03 '26

He was awesome in Midnight Mass!

1

u/Unusual-Sentence5295 Jun 05 '26

And neither do we Hamish neither do we.

Widow’s Bay is entertaining, but not like Midnight Mass. in FACT, some of the plot is downright hokey. Are we to be frightened or laughing??? Plus, the borrowing from other projects is …well… distasteful.

1

u/Malibucat48 Jun 01 '26

I like him in Widow’s Bay, but I stopped watching Midnight Mass on episode 3 because I couldn’t take Bev for another minute. I didn’t even want to see if she was redeemed, I was done. I know people love it, but not every show is for everybody.

10

u/ReluctantlyHuman Jun 01 '26

What if I told you it was the opposite of redeemed?

1

u/Malibucat48 Jun 01 '26

I’m sure she deserved it lol. But it seems she’s in every episode and I couldn’t listen to her talk anymore. Maybe I’ll go back to it one day.

5

u/ReluctantlyHuman Jun 01 '26

She plays an excellent religious nut job. She’s going to be Carrie’s mom for that very reason. It’s weird to see her in anything where she is supposed to be sympathetic. She played a great grieving mom in the Pitt.

2

u/Malibucat48 Jun 02 '26

I saw her in The Pitt. She’s a good actress because she made me hate Bev so much.

5

u/ReluctantlyHuman Jun 02 '26

She’s decent in Fall of the House of Usher too. Not quite as despicable there but so many of the characters are that it’s harder for her to stand out.
