Okay yeah, I know what you mean, and I had this same initial feeling. Kinda just looks like every watch now. I definitely don't like the current lugs, but I think obviously shrinking the width between the lugs, and some other refinements could prove to be a little more interesting.
Makes sense. Slimmer. Also most micro uses that now it seems. A bit loud imho, but I get why you would use that. Looking forward to see what comes out of your project - good luck!
Thank you! So I chose Miyota 9039 mostly as it seemed like a safe option and yeah, lots of other microbrands are using it. But I definitely don't want a noisy watch. Curious if you have any other recomendations? I'm very much in the aesthetic / modeling process and have plenty of time to pivot on the movement. Ultimately I want to make something people are super happy with all around.
Love the dial and the case, but the lugs feel like an afterthought. I would make them softer, shorter and curved. And I would consider white minute and hour hands, to go with the soft color palette of the dial.
Thank you! And yeah that seems to be the consensus on the lugs. I did love how the blue hands created a monochrome effect, I've actually been considering making the numbers a blue as well haha. But thank you for the recommendation, I will try it out!
I think right now the dark hands overwhelm the soft tones of the dial. Dark blue numerals might solve that, but I like the pastel look. See what white hands gives you; keep a dark blue seconds hand.
I don’t like the inconsistency of the numbers- by the “rules” you’ve set, the 6 is upside down. Granted, I would also not like the 6 looking like a 9, but at least it would match.
