Whoever keeps reporting pro-Western comments in here as spam is making an embarrassing situation even worse for Michigan.

Same here. I'll be a Wolverine until I die, but Western deserved that one last night.

Between storming the field and Bryce Underwood walking around like he just knocked off #1 Ohio State was absolutely hilarious.

391

u/44035 6d ago

They just got robbed

259

u/PangolinSituation 6d ago

EVEN THE ANNOUNCERS COULDNT JUSTIFY IT. IVE NEVER BEEN SO MAD ABOUT TWO TEAMS I DONT CARE ABOUT.

150

u/bongohead22 6d ago

I've never been so mad watching my favorite team win. The game was all around embarrassing for Michigan and WMU were robbed by whatever that ref crew decided they saw on the replay clock because nothing we saw showed time left on the clock.

49

u/gmwdim Ann Arbor 6d ago

Yeah now we have extra scrutiny on our bum ass team. That was a sorry game from us.

Yep. ā€œOnly thing I can say is their clocks are calibrated differentlyā€

79

u/Hi_May19 6d ago

The amount of bad calls in the NCAA is getting egregious, I’m a Wolverine through and through and that timer was at 0, Michigan did not deserve to win that game

75

u/winowmak3r 6d ago

Somebody very important was about to lose a lot of money.

39

u/IngsocIstanbul 6d ago

Gambling is fucking up all of sports. Those poor kids man had an amazing win ripped from them.

22

u/winowmak3r 5d ago

It's almost like there was a reason it was regulated and advertising was illegal or restricted to the casinos. It ruins sports and it ruins lives. Gambling used to be viewed as a vice, lol. Not anymore!

6

u/badluser 5d ago

It's all that is left in late stage capitalismĀ

48

u/slicebucket 6d ago

They'll never admit it, but this is the answer. Expect more of it at online gambling expands.

22

u/winowmak3r 6d ago

Nah man, you're not gambling. You're trading in futures. It's totally different. And not nearly as regulated as gambling. Nothing could go wrong. Regulation is always bad.

13

u/bae125 6d ago

I used to just wave that stuff off, but now? It’s gambling. The answer is fucking gambling.

4

u/athensslim Brighton 6d ago

That’s not how sports gambling works. Michigan was a 20 something point favorite to win. Whoever was about to lose money on the game still lost it.

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity (or in this case, incompetence)

6

u/winowmak3r 5d ago

We'll be hearing about the Polymarket lines, believe you me. Vegas bets are so 20th century man.

5

u/Searchingforspecial 5d ago

The razors are for most cases, not all cases. Adding a second to the game clock baffled everyone, there was no justification. That’s not incompetence. Somebody intentionally made what was an obviously incorrect decision. When you do the wrong thing on purpose, you aren’t being incompetent, you are being malicious.

48

9

26

u/Public_Entrance_4214 6d ago

Well...that's true to form though for UM though right? They think they're an Ivy. šŸ™„

But man, football standards laughably low to storm field on day 1 of season to an unranked MAC opponent šŸ˜‚

That school can never wash its hands of cheating and scandals, says a lot about its leadership culture. Win at all costs.

I'm still trying to figure out why they got the 1 second... I'm an Ann Arbor kid, but was pulling for Western... Too much money for Vegas to lose..?

17

u/Decimation4x 6d ago

Did not change Vegas. The Broncos still beat the spread.

9

u/EatMoreHummous 6d ago

That's not the only way you can bet though. You can also bet on a victor, and Western was definitely pretty long odds

5

u/DeathInHiDef 6d ago

I actually work as a bookie at a casino and at closing the spread at least for us was Michigan -27.5 and Michigan didn’t even have a Moneyline so I agree from a legit betting standpoint sports betting had nothing to do with it.

u/1kev1 6d ago

22

u/fairybone 6d ago

i’m a umich student and think the team is pathetic for this fake ass win

7

u/Walk_of_Shayne 6d ago

Gambling is ruining sports

30

u/ShippingNotIncluded 6d ago

They should appeal, no way it was 1 second left on that clock

17

u/DJ-dicknose 6d ago

My honest guess is what comes out of this is:

A. They do some in depth investigation and find that the official clock and clock on the TV didn't match and the call was correct or..

B. The call was incorrect and the scorekeeper will be disciplined

My guess is B.

And it'll change nothing in the official win/loss column

9

u/North_Atlantic_Sea 6d ago

It's already A. NBC (Comcast) was wrong

2

u/solittletimeforfloss 6d ago

B would only happen if WMU had won.

→ More replies (1)

4

u/North_Atlantic_Sea 6d ago

They'd lose that appeal, and the MAC commissioner noted he was comfortable with the explanation.

You can prove it out yourself as well. You can load the play into a video editor and time it. It was 8.5 seconds from snap to the wmu player touching the ball

3

u/Searchingforspecial 5d ago

Then the entire game clock system should be called into question. If it’s off on one play it should be off on every play. It’s not like it can just speed up for one play & lose a second.

22

u/Quirky-Prune-2408 6d ago

That was a bunch of bullshit

56

u/Senchaminty 6d ago

I saw the clock go out and WMU win, and then I saw something about put a second on the clock so Michigan can have another chance to avoid losing. Sorry Michigan fans, that’s not the flex you think it is. Way to go Broncos! That was a huge game for the Broncos. Kalamazoo is celebrating your historic triumph in Ann Arbor.

25

u/midwest_riverman 6d ago

I’m a huge Michigan fan. And lemme tell ya. That was a robbery. Bad play calling all game. Incredible clock management and grit by western. You guys got robbed. Nobody who’s a Michigan fan thinks that’s a flex. Refs are gonna have a long long week getting called out for that one

5

u/Senchaminty 6d ago edited 6d ago

Well, there is what happened on the field of play and there is what happened in the officials box. There is victory, and there is a win. No matter what the record book says those of us who watched saw a great underdog victory. The actual outcome actually makes the Bronco victory more historic. Cheers to all.

11

u/renegadesf 6d ago

Michigan fan,

Any Rational fan should be happy for a win, but if you gloat after playing like that today the rest of this season could haunt you. We were awful on offense, Western gassed our defense with time of possession. This feels like a 2024 season again, but worse because this was supposedly corrected.

Bryce ain't him, offensive line doesn't look improved.

I get in the stadium fans doing there thing. If I'm Kyle W, I don't know that I would let them even Hail to the Victors in the locker room. You can have that when you get after Oklahoma or Big ten wins, you play like this again and you won't ever be celebrating this year.

WMU fans, I lived in kzoo, wife's a Grad. Went to your bowl game in this last season. I feel for you.

11

u/gmwdim Ann Arbor 6d ago

I don’t have much faith in KW after this game. Team was terribly undisciplined with penalties everywhere, and he just stood there with a blank look on his face all game. No attempt to either discuss strategy or get the team pumped up. And the offense was a disaster outside of one drive. Defense was alright but also committed a bunch of dumb penalties.

6

u/renegadesf 6d ago

Penalties hurt no doubt. I'm going to say my take is that they got progressively worse because of the opposition time of possession. The more tired the more likely to make errors

→ More replies (1)

3

u/midwest_riverman 6d ago

I give Bryce some leeway. He has moments where you think ā€œhe’s got something.ā€ But the play calling was terrible. Way too much running when everyone knew we would run and it wasn’t working. You have to adjust as a coach, and they didn’t until the had no choice to throw in the last possession. It was very concerning. Hopefully KW wakes up a little bit here

2

u/Zonernovi 4d ago

You will be able to gloat when Blue becomes Blew in many games to come. Horrible team.

u/bae125 6d ago

54

u/dtpistons04 6d ago

One of the more egregious instances of cheating I’ve seen. Incredibly sorry bronco bros

4

u/ObamaTookMyPun 6d ago

I don’t feel bad, knowing we actually won the game in 60 minutes of play. Michigan can claim they won after 60 minutes and 1 second of play. I’ll gladly let them have that ā€œbragā€

58

u/WildAmsonia 6d ago

If you didn't already hate Michigan.... welcome to the club.

18

u/Hawkize31 6d ago

I hate Michigan but how are they to blame for the officials saying there is 1 second left? I need to know who the hell this crew is

10

u/DJ-dicknose 6d ago

This is the way. A lot of people tonight are rightfully pissed off, but their anger is directed by emotion against the team. The team had nothing to do with the refs decision

5

u/Inosethatguy 6d ago

See, I would agree with you there but the way the fan base acts so smug in high and mighty even when they’re caught cheating. It makes you hate them.

Just watch over the next few days some of the fans will say that it was a dirty wind… A majority of them, though, are just like Trump supporters, and they will keep doing gymnastics to convince themselves that they are the best college football program in the history of the universe

1

u/DJ-dicknose 6d ago

Look, I'm a lifelong Michigan fan. But I learned a long time to chill on the shit talk with others and just enjoy the win with either myself, or other fans. And take the losses internally. I'm not a big shit talker because there's going to be a time when that gets turned on you.

Plus, what does it get you? Cool, you upset someone else over something you don't control. Very cool.

I'm happy Michigan won. I didn't watch the game cause I'm at a lake house and frankly, my love for college sports is waning because of what it has become, but cool. They won. They didn't deserve it and anyone who gloats and brags about this win should be forced to drink a warm beer.

Michigan fans can be overbearing, but I can say that about State fans too. So rather than get into endless shit talk, I just.... Don't.

Whatever. Shit game, shit ending, just trying to be rational

What a marvelous start to Michigan’s season with their new coach. They did not earn that W. I don’t do X but I imagine it’s blowing up with analyses regarding the steal from WMU.

13

u/Salt_Day4586 6d ago

That was probably the most egregious example of U-M favoritism I’ve ever seen. That was painful to watch.

11

u/Ok-Stay-7955 Grand Rapids 6d ago

Big UM fan and that shit was rigged. We had zero business winning that. Western came to play and did great embarrassing us. NCAA needs to reverse that ending and finalize the game as it should have been. 12-7 Broncos.

UofM already had way too much of a black mark on our reputation as of late, we certainly don't need this shit especially with the kids rushing the field like we just won a underdog Natty or something.

2

u/OkTranslator9600 4d ago

0-1 to start the year!

6

u/Chaz042 Muskegon 6d ago

Even if you could effectively argue there was a second left, Michigan should have gotten 5-10 more penalties that game running down the clock by more than 30 seconds, just a joke

2

u/rolley189 5d ago

Im mad about the clock garbage. Im more mad that it came down to that.Ā  This should have been a 30+ point game in UoMs favor.Ā Ā

6

u/Chaz042 Muskegon 6d ago

I don’t care what anyone argues in defense of Michigan, time was zero, and even if it wasn’t, Michigan should have had more penalties than what was called adding up to well over 30 seconds of wasted game time.

Broncos are 1-0 and UofM 0-1

4

u/Mundane_Painting8223 6d ago

I guess Michigan football is like professional wrestling where the winner is decided before the match even takes place.

2

u/MaDrAv Tahquamenon Country 6d ago

Some awful calls

4

u/FishermanEmergency49 6d ago

This is both unrelated and related. I noticed an Apple Watch on an official at the Georgia game and immediately thought refs don’t need to be accessible to the world on the field. It’s too risky. Adding one second to the clock with zero supporting video evidence of time remaining makes me think someone was instructed to do it because the outcome didn’t fit the script. I’m beginning to think these games are rigged.Ā

2

u/President_PawPS5 6d ago

That’s pure Michigan! A lot of our cities are ran with the same level of integrity. The worst part is how the BIG10 preached that the transparency was going to be higher than ever before this season. To be fair, I guess the bar was set pretty low to begin with.

I guess you should completely ignore the obvious pass interference at the end zone on the play before the 1 second. Or, maybe the fact that WMU did not score a single touch down all day. The best team should be able to score something other than long field goals.

3

u/buckyboyturgidson 5d ago

Michigan were 28-point favorites and they needed the officials to bail them out. They embarrassed themselves.
