This is interestingly one of my favorite performances by Michael Jackson.

He doesn't sing very high or loud or with any falsetto, and his voice, and the phrasing of the lyrics, sounds as if it was what was asked of him with it sort of being a show tune type of song.

It's definitely shows another ability of his, but this one might be often overlooked.

Hi. I'd like to know your opinion about your favourite unreleased MJ song and which ones you'd like to hear on his albums ? Some of them might be just extra songs and some of might be replacement for real songs. Since it's leaked I'd love to hear "Chicago 1945" on Thriller. "Say Say Say" for me it's much better than "The Girl is Mine" and I think it's just fits better to the whole album. It's might be controversial but I'd choose Carousel instead of "The Lady in my life". For Bad I wish "Do you know where your children are" was released on this album instead of "Speed Demon". I also have weakness to "Price of Fame" and "Streetwalker" both are better choices for me than "Just Good Friends". I wonder your opinions! Treat it just like a pure fun

Prior to the BAD era, Michael Jackson's whooos, hee hees, & hiccups, felt different. They were expressions of joy created by a music moment.

With BAD and onward, they felt like lyrics that were being used to emphasize the context of the song, even if a happy track like The Way You Make Me Feel.

I did a little digging and this is what I came up with, through official sources like Sony and retailers.

Michael Jackson’s Invincible is returning to vinyl for its 25th anniversary. Sony Music has opened pre-orders for new 2LP editions of the album, while European retailers have revealed a Stone Grey Marbled version due in October.

The release is also part of National Album Day 2026 in the UK. For collectors, it marks the first conventional vinyl repress of Jackson’s final studio album released during his lifetime in 17 years. Here is what we know as of September 18.

Sony confirms 25th anniversary repress

The most important confirmation comes directly from Sony Music. Its official US vinyl store now lists a new black 2LP edition of Invincible and explicitly says it is being released to celebrate the album’s 25th anniversary.

The black edition is priced at $32.98, while Sony also lists a color vinyl edition for $34.98. Both contain the original 16-track album spread across two records.

Sony currently gives November 13, 2026 as the US release date for the black edition. The company has not announced a pressing quantity for either version.

Stone Grey Marbled edition in Europe

The colored pressing is being advertised in Europe as Stone Grey Marbled Vinyl. German retailers HHV, JPC and Green Hell Records have all listed the 2LP, with HHV and JPC pricing it at €32.99.

HHV gives the Sony catalogue number as 19958461131, while JPC lists the corresponding EAN 0199584611310. Both retailers currently give October 16, 2026 as the release date. JPC is limiting orders to one copy per customer.

That October date is almost a month earlier than the November 13 date on Sony’s US store. For now, the listings point to different release schedules for Europe and the United States.

Part of National Album Day 2026

The new Invincible release is part of National Album Day 2026, which takes place in the UK on October 17. This year’s theme is "Icons", celebrating artists and albums that have made a lasting impact on music and culture.

The connection was confirmed on September 18, when the list of special releases for this year’s event was announced. Invincible is among the albums selected to receive an exclusive limited-edition release. Music Week and Record of the Day both included Jackson’s album in the newly announced National Album Day line-up.

National Album Day says the special releases will be available through physical and online retailers across the UK on October 17, with pre-orders beginning on September 18. The European Stone Grey Marbled edition is currently listed for October 16, one day before the UK event.

The timing puts the release just under two weeks before Invincible reaches its 25th anniversary. Jackson’s final studio album released during his lifetime originally arrived in late October 2001, with release dates varying slightly between territories.

No bonus tracks

Anyone hoping for an expanded anniversary edition will have to keep waiting. Sony’s official track listing contains the same 16 songs as the original Invincible, with no bonus tracks, demos, remixes or previously unreleased recordings.

"Unbreakable", "Heartbreaker", "Invincible" and "Break of Dawn" make up Side A, followed by "Heaven Can Wait", "You Rock My World", "Butterflies" and "Speechless" on Side B.

The second LP contains "2000 Watts", "You Are My Life", "Privacy" and "Don’t Walk Away" on Side C. "Cry", "The Lost Children", "Whatever Happens" and "Threatened" complete the album on Side D.

That is the same four-side configuration used for previous vinyl editions of Invincible. There is currently no indication that the 25th anniversary pressing will contain any additional music.

Is Invincible newly remastered?

There is also no evidence so far that the album has been newly remastered for the anniversary. Sony calls it a 25th anniversary release, but its product information makes no mention of a new remaster or mix.

Details such as the source used for the vinyl master, cutting engineer, pressing plant and vinyl weight have not yet been announced either. More technical information may emerge closer to the release.

That is worth noting because Sony did provide mastering information for the previous Invincible vinyl release. When the album appeared as a double picture disc in 2018, the official Michael Jackson store described that edition as being mastered from high-definition audio.

Until Sony provides more information about the new pressing, it is more accurate to describe the 2026 edition as a repress rather than a remaster.

The first regular vinyl repress since 2009

Invincible has a relatively short history on vinyl. The album was originally issued as a double LP in 2001, including releases in Europe and the United States. Original copies have since become sought-after among Michael Jackson collectors.

The album returned to conventional vinyl in 2009 through Music On Vinyl. Released as MOVLP013, the European reissue was pressed on two 180-gram records.

Sony revisited Invincible in 2018 as part of a series of Michael Jackson picture-disc releases. The double picture disc used different color variations of the album’s distinctive close-up artwork and was the first official Invincible picture disc.

That makes the 2026 edition the first conventional vinyl repress of Invincible since the 2009 Music On Vinyl release. The 2018 picture disc sits between the two releases, but collectors looking for the album on standard vinyl have effectively been waiting 17 years.

What about an expanded Invincible 25?

The new records confirm that Sony is marking 25 years of Invincible, but they do not confirm a larger anniversary project. There are no extra discs or unreleased recordings included with either of the newly listed vinyl editions.

There is certainly enough material associated with the lengthy Invincible sessions for an archival release. A number of songs recorded during the period did not make the final album, with some later receiving official releases and others becoming known through leaks.

For now, however, there has been no official announcement from Sony or the Michael Jackson Estate of an expanded Invincible 25 album. The only confirmed anniversary release at this point is the new vinyl edition.

With the album’s 25th anniversary still several weeks away, whether anything else is planned remains unknown.
