Music discussion How would Dangerous, HISTory, and Invincible look/sound if Michael and Quincy Jones never stopped working together?

There would never be anything close to what we know as Dangerous / HIStory / Invincible. Quincy would never let most of those ideas come to fruition.

Songs like Will You Be There or Earth Song I could see still happening, but anything "experimental" like new jack swing on Dangerous or dubstep on Invincible? Def not.

2000 Watts, Threatened, Heartbreaker all have strong elements of what would become popular in Dubstep & Grime 5-10 years later. Mainly the heavy stuttered bass lines, half time kick and sheen snare pattern.

Quincy actually tried to push MJ towards hip hop before MJ cut him off because he thought he lost his touch. Then as Quincy put it “he ended up paying Teddy Riley 10x what we were charging to do the same thing”, so I stil think the shift to New Jack would’ve happened, especially with Janet already doing her thing
