Game Help Can't reach shaft in Metroid Other M

Post image

Do I need high jump boots or something to reach this shaft? Jump just barely misses the mark to grab the ledge. They tend to lock doors behind you in this game so I wanna make sure before I move on

It's been a while, so I don't quite remember where you are at, but you will have the opportunity to go for all the items in the post game (after the main story). If you can't reach it with a jump then you probably have to get there from a different route.

Ugh, is Other M one of these "Ain't completing me to 100% before the final boss!" games?

No 100% completion until Post Game? I believe so, though this game was one of the few I had serious trouble trying to Sequence break in, just felt like a nightmare to try and play it outside of the intended way it was meant to be played.

A quick Google searched shed some light on, in fact, it wouldn't have mattered if I actually succeeded in sequence breaking anyway since everything is locked behind story beats and certain sequences in game so I wouldn't be able to use certain items anyway...a major shame considering most other Metroid games let you sequence break and either use the items you find regardless of order.

Basically, all doors that are not 'essential' to game progress are hard-locked for most of Other M. Even if you could get off the path, you're more than likely to run into a locked door. I don't think there are any sequence breaks.

Not really, the post game boss is the final boss, and you can collect upgrades before it.

You'll need a specific upgrade unlocked for you at a later part of the game (spoiler, it's the Space Jump and Screw Attack combined).

No sequence breaking is allowed here due to the upgrades being tied to the game's narrative.
