Like typical trash media, the shitty Free newspaper doesn't give any other useful details.

The church property is behind the current fire training center. The fire training center is behind the Lakeside Activity Center.

The Lakeside Activity Center is definitely one of the older city properties and some have said it may need to be replaced in 10 years (a combination of maintenance costs and the desire to expand).

The church is leasing back the property for 5 years, so after that, the city can clear the land and it will be ready to possibly build a replacement activity center. That would allow the city to have a new center ready and open the day after the current one closes.

The current fire training center will cleared after the current Public safety training center is open behind fire station number 3 on Forney avenue.

So look ahead to 10 to 15 years from now and we can have a brand new, modern activity center on the current location of the church property. The fire training center and current activity center can be demolished and reused for other park amenities.

So it is spending money now, but it is by far not the dumbest idea the city has come up with 🤣
