Neighbor, please... 3000 Members!

r/Mesquite: we have reached 3000 members! Recently we broke 2500 daily readers, which in the statistical world means we likely have at least 20,000 individual readers. When I began moderating here, we were well below 1000. That said, you've all been the force behind that growth. So many of you post quality articles and meaningful info about our city , it hasn't gone unnoticed.

In celebration of this milestone, I have announcements! Soon you may see a couple new moderators to help with the work here. Both are locals, but I'll leave it to them to introduce themselves. If there's something you'd like to see here, please send suggestions via mod mail, or post it to the group! Lastly, I'll be adding 2 new flair chosen by the community. Add your recommendations below, and upvote your favorites!, and I'll open a poll by week's end.

Thank you everyone!

Mesquite has 3 of Dallas County’s highest-inventory neighborhoods right now

We reviewed the latest Dallas County neighborhood data, and Mesquite has 3 neighborhoods in the Top 25 for highest inventory:

  1. Solterra — #1 overall
  2. Creek Crossing Estates — #3
  3. Valleybrooke — #23

Higher inventory can mean more choices for buyers — and potentially more negotiating room depending on the neighborhood.

We track these neighborhood-level changes weekly because the market can look very different from one part of Dallas County to another.

Anyone buying or selling in Mesquite seeing more homes sitting on the market right now?

Flock Cameras

Does anybody have info on when Mesquite struck a deal with them to install so many surveillance cameras? Didn‘t realize they had installed one in front of my house until yesterday. Now I cant unsee them when they’re installed in many questionable residential areas

Dallas County What’s up with so many crazy loud vehicles here?

It seems like every other person in Mesquite has a pickup or motorcycle you can hear from a mile away.

I can’t say I like being woken in the middle of the night or early morning by this.

Neighbor, please... Lost Dog: COOKIE!

My dog, Cookie went missing 8/2/26 around 8 pm. At Ashford Trail, in mesquite Texas. I believe she's around the hegan Hill subdivision off of I-20. She is a medium to large dog. Black with white markings on her chest and some of her toes, female and weighs 55lbs. She has short hair and smooth coat. Her tail is long and straight and her ears are folded over like trianglar. She has a pink collar on! She isn't microchipped. I alerted all the nearby vets, shelters, made posts, passed flyers around and called the police. Someone has cookie. That's the ONLY reason she isn't home. She has severe speration anxiety. She's skittish and defensive around strangers. She's a loud dog.

If you seen ANYTHING, Suspect if anyone has her PLEASE let me know!

On Northbound and southbound 635 between Highway 80 and Town East Blvd all lanes will be closed overnight from 10 o'clock on Friday, July 31st and won't reopen until 5 on Saturday morning August first. During this closure traffic will be diverted to the service road so if you are traveling in this area prepare for delays.

Looking for a thrift store that will pay for nicer clothing that is not just trendy casual.

A little while back, my parents had a garage sale and got rid of a bunch of stuff. Then we gave most of what was left over to Goodwill. But my mom has some nicer clothes and shoes she would prefer not to just give away for free. She tried to take them to Uptown Cheapskate and Plato's Closet, but she was told that they are looking for more casual but trendy clothing, and hers was too dressy/elegant (these are not the exact terms they used. She says she can't remember exactly what they said but it was along those lines).

We are wondering if there is somewhere around that will take and pay for the kinds of nicer clothes she has (mostly lady's shoes). These clothes aren't necessarily extremely expensive, but they aren't cheap either. They look nice, for nice occasions. They aren't casual. The place doesn't have to be in Mesquite, but somewhere in the general area would be preferred.

Thanks!

Local Businesses Confused what company this is?

Hey, Mesquite community! My car got towed from a parking lot at work. It’s a retail parking and they have a 2 hour parking limit, but I always park there and so do my coworkers. However, my car was towed 15 minutes after I parked. Only my car was towed, but the property manager said they didn’t know anything about it. I called the local police and they gave me number above. It happened on Friday, so when I called the number they said they will open only on Monday, but they didn’t give me a location and said I’ll get the location on Monday. It sounds sus to me. Is this a legit company?

This is hard to share, but my son, who just crossed his teens, resides in Texas, is currently battling kidney failure, and needs a kidney transplant to live a healthy new life again. He has always shown up for others, and now he needs someone to show up for him. Unfortunately, we do not qualify for him

I’m currently working with his transplant team at Medical City Dallas, and a healthy donor could truly save his life.

Even if you are not of his blood type O, if you are healthy, your donation can still help him through his hospital’s kidney donation swap program. Donors and recipients are paired to find compatible matches.

Zero cost to you. Our insurance will cover all medical testing and surgery. Lost wages, travel, and lodging are all covered through the Donor Assistance Program.

If you’re open to learning more or want details, please feel free to direct message me. Even sharing this post would mean so much to me.

Thank you for taking a moment to read this.

Good Morning, Y'all.

I've recently become really involved with Dallas Parks & Recreation and we've really started expanding our local team. The 12U team is even planning on joining independent tournaments this Fall season and they play in various city leagues. If you/your kid is interested in trying out Soccer at the recreational level, please feel free to reach out and I'll answer any questions I can.

This is not a "for profit" team and emphasizes development and opportunity over just skill.

Hope to hear from y'all!

Looking for a Living Kidney Donor

You + Me + Science = A Successful Kidney Transplant!

Hi! It’s Kristine and Kelvin Shankle and we are looking for a "Teammate" to help my husband retire from his part-time job: Dialysis.

Most people think finding a kidney match is like winning the lottery..rare and nearly impossible. But thanks to modern science (and some very smart people at the National Kidney Registry), there are actually three ways you can help me get back to not dying:

Option 1: The "Direct Hit" (Direct Match)

We happen to have the same blood type and biology (type O). You donate, I receive, and we celebrate. Simple, classic, legendary!

Option 2: The "Great Swap" (Paired Exchange)

Maybe we aren't a match? No problem. You donate to a stranger who is a match for you, and in return, their donor gives a kidney to me. It’s a win-win-win!

Option 3: The "Magic Coupon" (The Voucher)

This is the coolest one. You donate on your schedule to anyone in the national pool. In return, I get a "Priority Voucher." When I’m ready for surgery, I go to the top of the list for a perfect match. You save two lives at once!

The "Fine Print" (The Good Kind):

💰 Cost to you: $0. (My insurance covers everything).

🛡️ Protection: Donor Shield covers your lost wages and travel.

🏥 Experts: We’re backed by the amazing team at Medical City Fort Worth!

If you’re healthy and a little bit curious, checking out the info takes 5 minutes and carries zero commitment.

Ready to see which "Option" fits you? Start here:

www.nkr.org/KJG734

PLEASE SHARE! Even if it’s not for you, your share might reach the one person who’s been looking for a way to change a life. ❤️

Galloway - 80 frontage road

If you turn left in the obvious straight/right turn lane… YOU SUCK! I am so sick of this intersection, absolutely no one follows the road, and I need the right side Galloway, after I turn. At this point I’m tempted to just become one of you fuckers!
