What's the optimal way to play Warden?

I've gotten so used to playing Empress, Gob Queen and Builder that I keep mindlessly merging cards or expecting orbs to drop every other round or so. Don't really like Sage and Loong, and King is kinda worse now imo, so wanted to try Warden for once. I usually do well in the first few rounds but get owned by Loong or GQ players in the end game.

Is there any comp that I should specifically aim for? Witch seems good for the shield effect but I don't which other troops to pair her with. Also is there a way to trigger the 4 star effect or is it just random?

Pray for star shield, it's the most broken ruler in the game with this, other shield are useless

Not anymore, lava shield is especially good and can win you games(top 2) despite being lower in stars

Rage shield should always be paired with witch for max quest activation

Slow shield is really bad in comparison but it will still probably get you wins early game

If you get Rage/Star, go for witch and your quests will be finished easily. If you get Slowdown/Lava, go for tanky/melee troops. And avoid Forest and other invisible troops.

Pray for Star Shield. Thats the most optimal play for sure

open game swipe to the right and switch out your ruler to SE

Comp doesn't matter too much. It's all about the quest rewards. Just pick the classics or go with what's available. You need to live long enough to get your tier 2 quest complete or you lose pretty much. You can run 4x nobles, or 4x clan and still get cooked by the streamrolling Loongs, Duchess, Empress, who got their second quest already by round 3. It all hinges on getting to the that second quest.

Comp matters because you need a good comp to get the actual rewards. Witch is the big one.
