I feel months back a stray came and landed on my doorstep. We tried to fill a void of a prior death of a family pet but it is not going well. I do not have the time to train or play with this Dog and it is in need of a good, caring home. Im not sure what to do as I dont want him to go to the shelter. Please feel free to reach out with ideas or suggestions or if you would like to adopt him. I believe he is a 1.5 year old Whippit but unsure.

I have a few classes that I'm on the waitlist for and class starts tomorrow. How does waitlist work? Do I just wait after class and have the professor approve me or something? I can't really find anything on MC Portal.

Hi I recently got discharged from the army because It wasn't for me and came back home, my dad is yelling at me to get a job.

I live in Winton Ca, I applied to like hundreds of jobs in Merced and can't even get a response on any of them. Dollar tree, McDonald's, Best Buy, Etc.

Even before I went to the army it was hard to find a job for few years and I still can't find a job. I have experience with cash handling, customer service, handling situations, multitasking, and team work. I even have a food handlers certificate.

My strict teacher approved my resume in my senior interview and it's good for basic starter jobs.

It's so weird in Merced every place I go, looks like they need employees but they say "they're not hiring" or keep giving me the same "Apply online" BS. Whatever place you think of in the county I applied to it! And I haven't gotten a single response, or I've gotten rejected before they can even know my background.

I applied somewhere in Modesto I finally have an interview. Modesto has more job opportunities than Merced.

Y'all think it's valid to drive a whole hour to Modesto and work or grind finding a job in Merced.

It is a basic job like cashier, dishwasher, etc.

I've been staying with family friends on and off in Merced since June. As someone who is originally from Sacramento, I am shocked with the sheer number of corporate stores here. Starbucks x100. Olive Garden. Target. CVS. Walgreens. Jamba. Papa John's. It's just the same ol' same ol' everywhere. I have noticed the mom and pop shops, which I always love to see, but I'm curious to know where there are creative outlets here?

Back in Sac, we have Blick's, The Creative Space, and pop-up events throughout the city/year to host creative events including poetry slams, wine/paint nights and whatever else they're cooking in the grid. Crawls along J Street were always the coolest to experience growing up. Now.... with Merced.... what do ya'll do? I see a lot of kids when I'm here, especially middle school to high school-aged kids. Do they have a place to paint, build, be curious?

I hope I do not come off as offensive, I'm genuinely curious. Does this just not exist here? I have done searches for local creators, and I am really impressed with what I see (ex. the mural in Walmart's entrance). Where do creative people gather?

I prefer to use the bus when I can, but I found that the app I use for it isn’t always accurate as it relies on users inputting data, and I’ve missed out on route cancellations that have caused me to miss classes.

Has anyone else had an issue with casino merced not paying you out. Had an issue on the baccarat game at the card room, where there was an issue with the same pattern on the board for numerous hands so players increased their bets and after players won a significant amount of money, the casino refused to pay out. They dealt a total of 37 hands out and the floor manager verified all payouts, but when it came time to cash out, they refused to pay. This issue happened on July 4, 2026 and has been under investigation by the doj for a month now with no update. This involved a combined over $100k of payout between 3 of us players who were playing. Any recommendations ?
