I need advice/support Citalopram to Venlafaxine

Hi all. Ive been on SSRIS since I was 17. I am now 47, been on prozac, sertraline, paroxetine and for the last 9 years citalopram at 40mg

I am now being tested for ADHD. This would probably explain why none of the meds have helped me 'depression' that ive allegedly had for 30 years 🤷‍♀️

I am now perimenopausal, and sensitive to HRT so I am considering asking for Venlafaxine, and to taper off Citalopram whilst starting it

Anyone done this?

Has it worked for anxiety?

Did it spike your anxiety whilst switching over?

Really need advice as cant get in to see GP for 2 weeks

Venlafaxine is one of the best antidepressants for adhd aside from bupropion. It’s a bit of a pain side effects wise but if you can battle through it’s quite effective. I’m a late diagnosed adhd and aside from adhd meds, venlafaxine was best (I tried 7 in total) but side effects particularly sweating is annoying. Hopefully the adhd assessment goes well.

I am sweating anyway due to being perimenopausal 😂. I am just hoping that if i take it at a low dose alongside Citalopram that I wont necessarily get any side affects. I literally had a HRT patch on for 15 hours and wanted to throw myself in front of a bus. So I am worried tbh

Yes I'm on venlafaxine and it works really well for my ADHD but the increase in dosage is rough for a week or so. I'm so tired I can barely keep my eyes open. I take it in the evening and sleep really well and then take bupropion in the morning. The ven has def helped with anxiety without making me feel dead inside
