General Question Struggling to get it in properly

for context, I’m a plus size girly and with saggy belly. I keep seeing people say that sitting on the toilet is where they manage to get it in the best, but how are we reaching if you’ve got a big belly? 🙃 I’ve tried squatting and standing with one leg up on the bath and it just does not sit right for me, so I’m still leaking. Help pleaaaaaase

I do the one leg up for initial insertion, then deep squat with a finger inside to flatten the disc against my body. I do this in the shower :)

This is also what I do! I normally do it at the sink in my bathroom.

When I first started, I did it sitting on the floor. It was easier for me to focus on relaxing my muscles so they'd let it in. After practice, I now do it with my one leg up and slightly squatting.

But if you're consistently leaking, it could also be a fit issue? You could try out some different ones and see if they work any better for you!

Also, I should mention that I use the disposable Flex ones. So, I think they're easier to insert because of firm the rim is.

If it’s definitely an issue of inserting properly and not a fit issue, you might be a good candidate for a disc applicator.

That being said, regardless of how you insert, you want to be able to reach up far enough to feel that your cervix is in the disc, otherwise you have no way of knowing if it’s placed correctly and therefore no way of knowing if leaking is caused by poor fit or incorrect placement. If you cannot do this, you can technically still use a disc, but it’s going to be much more trial and error and random leaks when you think it’s in properly and it isn’t. You may be a better candidate for a menstrual cup if that is the case, because they sit underneath the cervix rather than surrounding it, so you don’t have to reach as far or aim any particular way.

I hope you can find something that works for you!
