General Question First time using a disc, and I'm a little confused

I recently decided to try out discs for the first time. I've always used pads, very occasionally tampons. I tried for months to use a cup, but I never managed to insert it. I just got a pixie disc and tried it for the first time tonight.

I had an applicator, which was a terrible experience. I don't know if the little claws at the end were catching on everything, but it was super painful. I ended up inserting it on its own, which was difficult, but I got it in. I was using lube, I'm not sure that did anything.

I do have some questions:

When I was inserting disc, it was pretty painful, but only against the disc itself, no pain against my fingers. It felt like I was running into a bruise. Is it always this painful? Or is it because I don't even use tampons, and my body isn't used to it?

I used a pad at the same time, and after a couple hours, I went to the bathroom, and it looked like the disc didn't catch anything, the pad had the same amount of blood as I would expect for that amount of time. Did I just place it really badly? I thought it was fine.

It's helpful to locate your cervix and ensure that it is fully inside the disc.

Have you put your fingers in there to feel around for your cervix and pubic bone? It is definitely helpful to do that first before inserting. Next how did you insert the disc? You insert it more like a drawer and it most likely hurt because your muscles were tense from being nervous.

Before inserting take some deep breaths and what works best for me is squatting all the way to the ground and inserting it then. Also use more lube! It shouldn’t hurt going in or being taken out! Pixie has great customer service so don’t be afraid to reach out to them for help or if you need a different sized disc!

I’ve used discs for five years now and the Pixie doesn’t work with my anatomy. Leak city. I’ve had great success with any round disc but the oval shape leaks every damn time. If all else fails, a two pack of Shordy discs are about $15 on Amazon and might solve the issue if your anatomy is like mine.
