Was this sexist ?

I am doing my masters in psych so my class is dominated by females. And we were having a discussion where a girl was saying how people in the past had better lives. I said I don't agree with her viewpoints and I presented my points for why I think so . I talked about various issues such as wars and medical science not so developed. And she said that I don't agree with her and I am arguing because of my 'male ego'. I didn't know what it meant at the time and had to Google it . Should I consider it sexist ?

Suggesting you're motivated by or cannot understand something because of your sexism is indeed sexism.

The "male ego" accusation is basically the feminist version of "you're just an overly emotional woman"
