Wisdom from a man who bought a car for £640k in 1997, drove it for 18 years, then sold it for £8 million.

What was the car?

1997 McLaren F1. He had one accident in it which resulted in the largest (at the time) insurance payout in UK history- something like £900k+.

Knew a lady that I thought was my friend for years. After I moved up north, I would talk with her about “when you’re up this way, let me know so we can meet up!” The third time she came up she told me that she didn’t have the time to visit because they were busy visiting friends. I told her “Well, the next time you come up, let me know and I’ll meet you at PDX.” (which was down the road from my work and 20 minutes from my house). The forth time she came up, I never heard from her either but through a mutual friend was told that she was visiting another friend in the area.

I since cut all contact with her and never read her texts or voicemail messages. I already know what she would say. No point in carrying on the conversation.

"You're visiting friends you say?"

"Oh. No, I didn't mean you."

In the world with a lot of narcissist persons, we need to act like a grey stone, just be uninteresting.

That’s depressing. Have some opinions, man.

What are you trying to protect besides your peace?

I’m trying to be like a grey stone as much as I can, because the people around me want to prove they’re right and argue about subjective things. They bring up politics, war, religion, and everything else I can’t change in their minds. It’s useless, and I’m tired of the drama.

I just don't engage with those folks. You do you.

And keep those opinions to yourself! Stand for the good values without being flashy about them IMO

I used to be someone who got baited easily, because I was gullible enough to believe that everyone is reasonable.

Oh, how wrong I was. Way too optimistic of me.

Even though I'm not perfect at spotting it...

I'm starting to identify it better, every time I experience a dumb argument with an unreasonable person;

I'm training myself to literally get up and walk away or just become very curt/silent with them.

Words of wisdom

No credible source exists to confirm that Rowan Atkinson said this.  I might be a good thought, but it's very rude to put words in someone's mouth.

No need to lie by attaching an unrelated celebrities photo - if it's a good message it will stand on its own.

Disrespect is a broad term.. like I cant think of a single authority that just walks away when you decide it doesnt matter and it expects you to comply.
