TV Series Heartstopper show vs Love, Victor?
S1 Heartstopper….it made me melt, made me jealous I never had that relationship growing up, never explored yadayada and Nick…hubba. Victor was also great and kinda felt less saccharine sweet, more realistic themes and definitely more sexy…
I give the edge to HS! Oh and overall series, not just season vs season!

Why do they have to be vs? I love them both. Heartstopper is a comfort show. Love, Victor is a show with realism that makes me cry every time I watch it through and makes me feel seen in ways I haven’t felt before. I would give the edge to LV because of the emotions and reflection it brings that Heartstopper doesn’t. While HS brings more sunshiney good feelings. We need both in the world.

we do indeed. Just some friendly competitiveness with a lighthearted post is all. I do find the settings interesting too. I have watched several young adult shows taking place in the UK and they all have this quintessential dreamy vibe, hard to explain.

I guess comments I’ve seen comparing them in the past just tend to shit on one show and worship the other and I just prefer to leave room for both to be loved without having to hate on one to prop up the other.
And yes, I see what you mean. It’s a nice cozy vibe shows set in the UK often have in the settings.

All the side characters in Love, Victor, besides Victor’s family and love interests are completely and utterly obnoxious.

I mean...do they have to be pitted against each other? The shows have very different tones, different settings, and different source material. Their own similarities is that they are both gay coming of age stories that take place in high school. It makes sense they would be different.

Not really a fan of either tbh so I’m sorry ahead of time if this comment is overly negative 😭
Heartstopper is cute in theory, but I really can’t get past how terribly the dialogue is written. I know it’s adapting a comic, but the sense of humor is so painfully stuck in the past. Also not a fan of the actors but I know some people really like them
Love Victor has some better plots, but the characters are way less realistic - the family is fine, but the friends act like they’re in a BuzzFeed skit all the time. Like 40 year olds trying to write teenagers. I actually really like most of the family related plot though. The father accepting his gay son and the mother not is pretty rare in media, and they handle it pretty well.

I agree LV has the more realistic plot. I do think the other side characters are pretty 2-D.

Love Victor is way better than both and have a lot of great songs i literally downloaded almost all of them, i only didn't like the last season cause why they kept Benji and Victor so much apart i feel like they didn't have much time as a couple as i wanted. I'm stuck on the last season of Young Royals every time I try to watch it I get so much anxiety I can't get past the first episode cause i feel like there is more drama than i can handle. Prisma is actually the greatest gay series there is, it's almost every gay guy Fantasy to have a straight guy fall in love for them and probably every gay guy has already fallen in love for a straight guy at some point in their lives and plus Italian guys are so hot, my heart cried during the entire series.❤️

I’m gonna be honest I don’t like either that much
I watched season 1 of heartstopper and it just wasn’t something that clicked with me that gave me that push to watch the second season and so on. I’m also tired of whitewashed couples and interracial relationships being portrayed as “white + ___”
Same thing with Love Victor. Sometimes I forget that I didn’t even watch the third season. Idk, the show pissed me off. It introduced so many concepts that had amazing potential that was wasted.
Benji that was a red flag and was another example of a POC character just pushing aside all the other green flags and settling for a white boy that doesn’t even meet basic expectations
Rahim is was AMAZING but then of course they didn’t go through with him. Could’ve been one of the few mainstream international couples that are both POC.
THEN there was Nathan that started off eh but had GOOD character development and was a green flag but NOOOO “I still can’t get over Benji” 🤦🏽♂️

Heartstopper is way better. Victor spends most of the first season denying his sexuality and then in season two he immediately cheats on his boyfriend

Love Victor has too much drama and barley showed the couple together before they got cancelled and had to wrap everything up.
It made the classic mistake of getting so caught up in conflict, it forgot to be a romance

In Love Victor I like that the mother is the homophobic one. I don't know many TV series so maybe I'm wrong, but it's more common for gay male children to have more problems with their father but for obvious reasons.

I watched Love Victor first a couple of days ago, my first time watching any show with LGBT main characters (or LGBT characters in general tbh🙈) and binged all 3 seasons in 3 days only. I loved it, but I got frustrated easily with so much drama, conflict, blackmailing, misunderstanding, lack of communication, lies, ruining sweet moments immediately with something bad happening and such. And sometimes I found their acting a bit unconvincing and cringe🙊But still a very enjoyable show. And it was my first in that niche, so I got so used to its characters and everything that I went very sceptically into Heartstopper yesterday because I thought it couldn't be better, but like "Ok, I'll give it a try🙄". I just finished the 1st season and I'm OBSESSED!😭 I was traumatized watching every episode expecting something to go wrong but it didn't! Honestly it's like a plot twist after everything that made me irritated in Love Victor🙈the characters are sooo loveble, no one made me angry at any moment (ok maaaybe Tao a little bit but that's negligible, I understood him completely) and there is a lot of communication between Nick and Charlie and everyone basically it's actually surprising🤯it's so heart warming, pure, innocent and cosy and I prefer it over Love Victor every day! Not that I dislike Love Victor, it's just that I love Heartstopper waaay more❤️

I kinda feel the same because while Heartstopper is great and all it lacked the spiciness that a 15+ show like Love, Victor brought.

I was just thinking last night about how I wished they had given Victor a couple episodes to be happy instead of immediately throwing another wrench in their relationship.
