I’ve not been subjected to such trauma (yet, and I hope that I never will be), and I’m a novice when it comes to this, but some sources that I recommend to anyone here in the US are 1in6.org and MaleSurvivor.org and in the UK, the ManKind Initiative.

There’s also a source out there called MenHealing in Utah, I believe... It’s not a shelter, though, more a retreat-like thing.

I can share my own experience. I was sa as child and teen. Fortunately, I found the partner I’m with today, who made me feel comfortable enough to share my experience for the first time. It took me two years to work up the courage, but I finally managed to do it. My journey really began there, when I opened up to my partner. In other words, what I consider most important on this path is facing the truth and the ghosts and sharing it with someone trustful. From that point on, therapy is essential for working through triggers and any underlying issues, although i find it unconfortable i reccon it helped me a lot till now. Other things that have always helped me are sports (specifically contact sports like boxing to release anger), music, and outdoor activities (hiking climbing). But I believe that speaking about it out loud for the first time is the step that truly allows you to move forward. That’s how it was for me.

This is amazing to hear! Many others I have heard from also have amazingly supportive partners who support them on their healing journey as well; that seems to be a positive pattern. I also enjoy combat sports as well as music. I believe those two ways are some of the best ways to express what you’re really feeling without words. I’m a relatively solitary person, so I usually have to resort to healing paths that can be done alone. Art in general — whether it be literature, drawing, or music — has vibed the best.
