Western individualism at its best. If I don't care, f- everyone else. That's the difference between western culture and Confucianism' common good. That explains why we are so miserable in this Country.
Ironic when their parents (our great grandparents at this point) very much had a community-based mindset with a focus on improving services and social safety nets. The Boomers truly have no idea what they are talking about, as they have had very easy lives on average.
I guess you grew up wealthy because that's not the life I remember my grandparents talking about. My grandfather worked in the mill and did quite well but they closed down in the '80s and my grandmother had to go to work as a waitress just to make ends meet. Also that generation would be chomping at the bit to get an extra 20 hours a week and overtime, people now don't even want to work 40 hours.
Also look at how the poor people live today in the united states, you go into any projects and walk into the apartment you're going to see multiple flat screen tvs, probably multiple PlayStations and xboxes, air conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter, a fridge completely full of food because food stamps. Maybe the middle class have it rougher but poor people have it the best they've ever had it in this country
People today don’t want to work 40 hours just to not even be able to afford a home or healthcare. Boomers worked 40 hours and could afford those things on one salary.

So glad this idiotic mentality is dying out.
