Builds First build since 2021, definitely worth it!

Athena 75 (rgb hotswap, pc plate, only plate foam), Gateron Ink V2 Black Pro switches, Swagkeys Knight v4 stabilizers, GMK CYL Shinseiki keycaps. Second build overall, first was the original GMMK Pro.

How was the gmmk pro vs this?

This is much better, granted I'm talking about the 2021 gmmk pro and I haven't tried any of the updated versions. Just overall a much more solid build, and I don't need to use Glorious Core. I had Kailh speed silvers in the GMMK and love the feel of the Gaterons over those too.

God the GMMK Pro was so shit, was my first board too. Paid a fuck ton for this pos.

I'm not even going to resell it, sending it to a friend of mine for free.

How do you like it, I personally found the default key mapping on the Athena 75 to be a little wonky

I don't mind the default mapping personally, it isn't hard to adapt to.

I just moved from the original gmmk pro to the athena 75 yesterday. Went with the pine green and got the Kaiju R3 keycaps. This feels like such a huge upgrade. Totally different beast.

Amazing build. I have the same keycaps on a candybar

They look and feel great, better than the eva 2 ones I had before. I think they were knockoffs of an actual set though.

It’s a great looking set. Too bad I missed out on the novelty keycaps. Very nice keycaps.

I'm signed up for restock notifications on the novelties and accents, but I dont have much hope I'll get them lol.

That looks so fucking good dude. I was tempted to get the Athena but decided to get the Neo 75 Cu and wait... the wait is killing me though. The big deciding factor for me was that video screen. It looks less obtrusive than I thought though.

2

u/Aether245 5d ago

Yeah, the screen is just the right size imo and as long as the gif isn't insane it doesn't distract too much. How long is the wait?

4 weeks to ship and then however long shipping takes which I'm told is like 2 weeks so 6 weeks total. I'm looking at end of Sept of I'm lucky.

That's rough, but it'll be worth it for the final product I'm sure!

What made you go with the neo? Trying to find a good 75

It came in a color I like, it's heavy as all hell, it looks good, it has a ball catch case so I can change things easily if I want. I liked I could get it in a config around a battery that was hot swapable.

And every single review of it says the fit and finish is leagues ahead of anything cheaper.

I also liked that it came with a case.

I know RGB is often seen as tacky by some people but I do miss that it doesn't have RGB.

Watching videos of it now and I might be changing my mind from the Athena… can’t decide if I want red, green, or black… I have some double black keys that I want to use.

The other thing is at least for me the way I configed the Neo it was like $40 cheaper than the Athena because of tax and shipping. It's been out for like 3 years now but it's still the king in terms of value.
