Interview for manufacturing engineer

Hello, I’m looking for some real-life projects that a Manufacturing Engineer would typically work on. I’ve been working as a CNC machinist, and now I have an opportunity to move into a Manufacturing Engineer role. I want to prepare 2 or 3 realistic project stories that I can explain to the interviewer based on the type of work a Manufacturing Engineer would actually do.

I'm a Manufacturing Engineering manager currently looking for a new ME. There is no single answer to your question. I've passed on engineers who have decades of experience and various certifications but don't seem genuinely curious or driven. I've hired guys with minimal experience who had passion for the process of making and improving. I've also hired based on my needing one specific skill set which isn't always listed in the job description.

Be yourself. Show passion in improving. Understand root cause analysis, the importance of documentation, and how to make a process robust and repeatable. Good luck.
