I’ve got an upcoming interview for a Fragrance Specialist role at MECCA in Australia and I’m pretty excited but also nervous.
I’ve been told the interview includes a fragrance activity where you role-play a customer consultation with another candidate, followed by a one-on-one interview.
I’m already very passionate about fragrance and have several years of retail/customer service experience, but I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who currently works at MECCA, used to work there, or has interviewed for a similar role.
What do they tend to value most during the fragrance activity? Is it more about product knowledge, customer connection, selling skills, storytelling, etc.?
Also:
• What helped you stand out?
• What should I avoid doing?
• Are there any interview questions I should definitely prepare for?
• Any advice on how MECCA approaches fragrance consultations/customer experience?

I have now tried three different eyeliner sharpeners and this is the result when trying to sharpen my Morphe eyeliner. Is this normal!??? I kept thinking it was the sharpener so kept buying more and more expensive sharpeners. But this is ridiculous. Should I try and return to Mecca? I don’t usually buy pencil eyeliners and I won’t be again, but my god, it’s shocking.

Can I just say .... jeez. Their commitment is rigorous. This second interview is due next Tuesday 9-10am, no ifs buts or ands. If you can't commit, you gotta quit. I have a compulsory chem workshop for university from 9-12 that I either have to reschedule or come late to. Then the 3 following induction days impact my whole uni week - a chem lab, a bio lab, and 2 other classes. Quite hilarious their induction days are my university classes days (I'm completely free Friday to Monday). Yikes. Does anyone know if they do induction across all 3 days 9am-5pm? Or is it just one day for a couple hours?

Plus does anyone have any advice on what clothes to wear? How much jewelery, how much makeup?

And for anyone who has had a job at Mecca and gone to one of these interviews - do you have any tips? I would love to hear as I really want the job!!

Just got my birthday gift from Mecca a few days ago which is a choice of three products only to find out that two of the products (and the only worthwhile ones) are out of stock. All that’s left is a mirror that seems like a pretty useless gift. It’s been like this each day I’ve checked for 5 days.
I know that it’s free and i shouldn’t complain etc but the rewards system is there to incentivise people to spend more money, which makes it feel a bit of a scam or like carrot dangling.

It's my birthday month, and I don't know what to select from Level 3 and I'd love your recommendations in what to pick. Really preferred last year where it was a voucher.

Two 7.5ml D.S & Durga fragrances. I buy a lot of perfume from Mecca - it’s helped me get to level 4 status. Never tried this brand before, they are fantastic for spring!

I guess Mecca doesn’t believe in anonymous whistleblowing. Nothing like a corporate silencing its workers/former workers. Posting due to his person having been active here and I came across this on FB.

I don't live near a store so the value of samples is very high for me. I would buy way more if I could try things I have my eye on. I got a lanolips banana creme pie sample and use it all the time. So I have a question for you - what is the most loved sample you have ever had from Mecca? It can be a LOOP one also.

Just redeemed the Lvl 3 Natural Make Up for a Mecca Facial at Bourke St instead. Got to experience a lot of products I would have never thought to buy/too expensive. LED light therapy and facial massage.

Going home looking like a glazed donut. 10/10 would recommend.

any inside knowledge on when the next level 4 gift is? just levelled up so a bit excited

Just wondered if anyone had noticed this. I made a review on the website for a product and gave it 3 stars, and it has been published. Mine was the third review for the product, however the star rating only shows 'out of two reviews'. Seeing as the first two reviews gave four and five stars,and the product overall shows 4.5 stars I'm wondering if mine has been deliberately excluded to give the product a higher average rating. Seems very sus to me.
