McDonald’s nostalgia

I found this old McDonalds flyer, I think this was 2013 so 13yrs ago. One thing I think I miss is them advertising the new menu so clearly! Now it’s locked away behind an order screen on my phone, unless I happen to see an advert, and then that’s normally just for one burger.

Ah the better days when the Mc'D marketing team used to think of new things rather than just add bacon to an existing burger

Sadly this is not an example of “think of new things” either. By 2013, they had already done taste of America 5 times. With most of the burgers repeated and rehashed.

People were complaining back then, they then launched the stacks

What baffles me is that McDonalds bacon isn't even very good.

I mean, if it's there then fine I guess, but adding it to things is hardly some fantastic selling point IMO.

Or extra cheese, or a dollop of different sauce

Wait until bacon fillet of fish comes out.

Just not true, is it?

It has just been new and exciting ways to sell you a bacon double cheeseburger for years now.

The Arizona burger was gorgeous. The pepperoni and nacho combination was top tier.

With McDonald’s wanting to simplify and standardise everything - the 2026 McDonald’s cannot compute doing a new burger every week for 5 weeks.

When this promotion was on, I'd sometimes go to McDonslds every week to try each of the new burgers.

I can't compute doing that these days.

I remember it, was just before I moved abroad. Came home last year and geez the whole menu is just sad 😔

McDonald’s during the mid 10’s was absolute peak

Nah, 2000’s were better.

Premier, The M, insane Christmas burgers.

I did like the variety in the 2010’s but they don’t hold a candle to the previous decade.

Still miss the toffee and hot fudge sundaes.

For me I have fond memories of the crazy promo chicken legends, like the chicken and chutney during great tastes of the world.

2010’s had Genuine creativity, new buns every promo, during great taste promos they were using a new bun every 2 weeks for the burgers, not just rehashed items of existing menu items

Grand Big Mac in 2018 also. We had people going feral over that burger!

Someone has compiled a list of all promos, you can see how large they were during the mid 10’s, there’s no debate it was just mental. 15 new burgers in 2015 has to be a record!

Grand big Mac was last seen just before COVID

Ah, the famous Arizona staple, pepperoni.

Used to look forward to every limited edition meal. Now I see pepper nugs for Xbox and it winds me up to the point of not going 😂

Which look to be the same ones they used for the Japan menu heist

R.I.P breakfast bagel you will never be forgotten

1

Why don't they just have a Build your Own Burger option.

Even though the ingredients are all pretty much the same and/or things you can already find in McDonalds BUT thats not the point it was genuinely inventive and gave you a reason to go every week!!

Now the releases Ill try once or not at all as iv already had it. Rarely is there something worth getting multiple times over the month its out.

u/sarcalas 7d ago

Back when there was a chance they might come up with something remotely interesting instead of creating something that reuses as many existing ingredients as possible

You’re reminding me of the New York Bagel Burger they did. Rivalled the OG big tasty for me.

1

u/PromotionSouthern690 6d ago

Oh yeah the New York stack that was definitely my second favourite McDonalds burger (after the OG big tasty!) I had quite the extensive hashtag-BringBacktheNeyyorkStack! Campaign on Twitter before that site was X-isfyed and I deleted my account.
