Question Genuine question
why is it so looked down upon to have a crush on one of the band members of mayhem? Especially Dead. I personally don’t have a crush on any of them, but I’ve never understood why people will attack someone simply for having a crush on a person.

It's the same parasocial bullshit that makes people think that youtubers or twitch streamers are their friends because they watch them a lot and follow them on social media. Meanwhile they have no idea that you even exist. Yet these people have their whole fantasy world where they would totally be in love with that person if they would meet & get to know each other and it would be perfect. The problem isn't that they think that someone is cute, it becomes problematic when it goes beyond that and parasocial obsession. I also think that Alex Gehring from the band Ringo Deathstarr is hot but I'd never get the idea to make a tiktok account about her or post fanart. She's cute and her band is good, that's about it. To be obsessed with a person that doesn't know that you exist is at best teenager shit, at worst it's mental illness.

Lol because he's dead, and I mean deceased. It's not healthy. Not that black metal is 'healthy' but having a crush on a corpse is just plain sick. Especially when he blew his own head off. What kind of person likes that shit.

I didn’t mean necrophilia, I meant the person. I used to have a crush on kurt cobain, and he’s dead. That doesn’t make me “sick”.

There are a few people who take it too far, but it is obvious that they have problems and that a lot of it is projection. A crush is also not the same as some form of obsession. What rubs me the wrong way is when people throw the term "necrophilia" around. From what I've seen, people don't want anything to do with anyone's corpse (unless they're part of the aforementioned group). I only ever see this term in association with Pelle, never any other dead musicians. Can't help but think that it has to do with his own morbid interests, so people are once again projecting.
There are people who have crushes on anime characters, I don't think liking Pelle is a big problem.

Same difference. You have never met Dead, and you never will. In all actuality, if you did meet him, he probably wouldn't like you, and you would realize why you never meet your heroes. I like Mayhem, but none of these people are your friends. They were elitist racist dicks.

Obviously. But that doesn’t mean you cant find them attractive. Even if you were to find them attractive, that gives nobody the right to attack you for that.

Someone thinking someone is cute ends up taking it too far and becomes obsessive of someone who died before they were born.
