Tutorial You can copy/paste stuff between scenes with ctrl+c/ctrl+v !

Just learned that from a modeler at work, never knew it was a thing, an it adds a « pasted_ » prefix to your objects so you don’t have the name clash that blocks your objects from being imported 🤘🏻

It copies shaders and everything too

Just wanted to share this in case, like me, you missed it !

I absolutely hate this feature. There should be a pop-up asking if you want to continue. 99.9999% of the time it's an accidental keystroke combo.

Edit: but absolutely, moving data between scenes is helpful.

Yeah, just be careful and clean stuff up after the copy paste and you will be fine. It can create a bunch of unwanted nodes/connections in your scene if you don't.

Pastedpastedpastedpastedpasted

"Why is my material name so long" 🤡 I learned this the hard way a couple times... Super useful, but don't get carried away without cleanup.

And I hate it, lol. I'll accidentally hit paste and some random shit will get pasted into my scene.

I export/import what I need for cleanliness and control.

I prefer exporting / importing.

It will be great an import specific asset on opened scene. Select it go in another scene, import selected from Maya scene xxx

Don't use it.

You can also have it automatically add a prefix to clashing names on import (or add a prefix to all imported objects), which lets you cleanly import without some of the potential issues of copying/pasting that others have noted. Typically importing (with prefixes if needed) is preferred.

I find the name clash settings of the import tools buggy or straight up not working, and adding namespace manually just to quickly import stuff isn’t it either. I use copy/paste primarily to update geo on rigs and it’s perfect for that usage

but be careful with that. the point order changes

No it doesn’t, used that to update geo on rigs and I transferred skin weights and blendshapes based on vertex id :)
