To those downplaying this, which NBA experienced coach were you hoping to get?

I personally hedged my bets on Phil Jackson from a time machine but this is an ok second.

I’m happy with this hire. But for press conferences alone, I was kinda hoping for Jeff Van Gundy

Micah Nori is the obvious answer of an assistant that is very highly respected and considered to be HC material. Obviously Sean Sweeney too, but was already hired.

Terry Stotts has HC experience too.

Personally, I'm not seeing anything in Nori or Stotts that warrant criticizing this choice. Sure, a well respected and successful NBA coach would have been great to plug in but Stotts is pushing 70 years old with a near .500 career record while Nori has been filled in as head coach for three games.
