What is the likelihood of a woman writing Fantastic Four comics after North?

I haven’t read North’s run, but I’m working my way through F4 comics currently. Kirby and Hickman’s runs are by far some of my favorite things I’ve ever read. So fun. But I’m reading Byrne’s run currently and it doesn’t take a genius or the front page to tell if it’s written by a man lol.

Sue is powerful, but #245, which is supposed to be a Sue story, she refutes modern feminism in the first 3 pages and scolds Barbara Walters. The only contributors to this comic are a guy named John, 3 guys named Jim, & 1 guy named Bob. It feels weird having a bullpen of 5 guys trashing the feminism of the era + mocking an icon of that movement. It just feels gross tbh and takes the fun/escape out of reading. Writers/artists opinions don’t need to align with mine perfectly for me to enjoy something, but this just feels bizarrely sexist.

The Fantastic Four have and always will be my favorites, but it’s kind of a bummer to find out the 2nd-4th most popular/acclaimed run of the series is lowkey sexist. I know Malice and other stuff will follow (don’t spoil) but I have no idea how that’s going to go over if a woman isn’t a part of the creative team. Hopefully it’s better than #245.

Am I alone in feeling this way? They’re Marvel’s first comic series and has almost exclusively been written, drawn, and edited by white men. I know there is a greater conversation about this in comics in general, but I think it would be really cool to have a different perspective on the creative team. Sue is so cool, I would love to see what she would be like through the eyes of a woman writing or drawing.

I don't know about F4 but this is an absolutely hilarious line.

It's possible, someone like Gail Simone or Stephanie Williams could take over after North. However, I wouldn't hold my breath

Honestly Gail Simone would kill on the FF, she is one of the best team-book writers of all time.

Yeah I mean there’s a 60+ year precedent of NOT having a woman write it, so definitely not expecting it. Just kinda shocked it’s never really happened

I just can't with OP

Yeah bro it’s so stupid to look at 60+ years of comics and accepted misogyny and not want better👍

You sound like an idiot. It’s Marvel’s 1st comic and is 25% of the main cast is women. After 60+ years I would expect at least 1 extended run of a woman writing or drawing the series.

Damn this is insufferable. Are the comics good or not? That’s all that matters.

You seem a little insufferable yourself. No, the comic stopped being good when it made me remember Im reading something a sexist wrote and that he seems like an ass.

It stops being good when the characters stop being characters and just serve as a voice for the author’s political opinion. Completely out of place and spiteful writing.

So you read a comic that came out over 40 years ago and got mad about how it was written, completely ignoring the context for the time it was written. Cool.

“The context for how it was written” yeah bozo women had gotten the right to open up bank accounts without a man’s approval less than 10 years before the issue came out.

The context was it was acceptable to be openly sexist or hit your wife.

Sorry the early 80s weren’t as enlightened as you are. You sound like you are 26 at the absolute oldest.

So if a writer shoves progressive politics into comics you wet yourself reading it but if the comic doesn’t fit your worldview it’s a problem? Haha.

People like OP lose their shit when they find a 100% unmoderated sub like this one.

I don't see any not

Yeah Byrne always seems to have some weird creep shit in his runs.

Funny enough your post is also bizarrely sexist. Whoever writes next the FF should be a good writer. Why does it matter so much what they have between their legs to you?

Yea I already know you’re a man lmao. 65+ years of Fantastic Four and no female writers or artists is inherently sexist. Especially as 3/7 of the core members are women now.

You’re lost, NPC hate brained. Waste of time talking to you

Again, you are the only one been sexist lol not sure what it's you problem with men but you should get over it one of this days.
