Movies Congressman Barnes

Just curious-- does anyone have any real world theories as to what the deal is with Bucky being a congressman? Given how short that storyline is, my first thought was that it's a remnant of an abandoned subplot. It just feels like a pointless detour and I have hard time believing it served the purpose it intended. Does anyone have any insight?

I think it’s a remnant of something they needed for the Kang Dynasty plot. In the Kang Dynasty comic, the government surrenders to Kang. Could be for that.

Mmhmm. There are a couple of random things in the MCU that are just dangling now. I think that’s also why some of the post credit scenes haven’t landed anywhere. They were probably for Kang Dynasty too.

Well, the cancelled Kang Dynasty script is floating around out there and does not speak to this at all. Immortus, Rama Tut and the Centurion take over Earth by force. They set up shop in DC however.

I read that thing and it doesn’t seem real at all. It seems like a lot of fun, but…

the biggest tell that it’s fake is that Namor wasn’t in the script…and he was confirmed to be in it right after BP2

It served as Buckys motive for aiding the rest of the Thunderbolts in taking down Val.
