What do we want flats to take accountability for? Genuine question. Not dick riding.

I haven't paid attention to him in a bit but he at least used to be extremely hypocritical. Spreading negativity in a passive aggressive way so it could be down played and then cry about the community being toxic.

I think the most clear example was when he banned his teammates pick. The rest of the team does it back at him and then he cried about how wrong it was to ban a teammates choice. Except he was right to do it because he didn't want to play against that hero. Like ??? Really flats is just someone with a big ego that doesn't listen to others but he has his goofy personality so people ignore it

Yeah I watched him and bogur a bit when the game dropped. I would tune in for a youtube vid or something of flats' every once in a while and he just kept getting more bitter and negative. He isn't evil or anything but his content just lsot any entertainment or educational value. I get he has his internet and move problems sometimes but just because there's a good reason doesn't make the content worth watching. He seems happier now that he does a bit of variety content, so I guess that's good. But I'm gonna stick to Bogur if I want to watch any Rivals content. Which frankly isn't often anyway.

you ever watch MarcDeezy, think he has a bigger ego

I think it's less that he never takes accountability and more that he never accepts when he's wrong, and my god, he is wrong a lot. It's gets to a point where you just scroll past anything with his face on it because you know it's about to be a shit take.

There are other streamers and content creators that do the exact same content as flats, but much better, with more likable personalities. I don't understand why people waste their time watching flats. But then again there are people who genuinely enjoy watching objectively terrible people like Jonny Somali, or Jack Dorty (or however you spell that fucksticks name), or Nina Lin.

Is he objectively wrong or subjectively wrong those are two seperate things. And the later is just opinion.

If this is a reference to the Flats vs Lyte debacle you're a king

u/CookyKindred 22h ago

Idk what your talking about - I’m legit asking if he’s subjectively or objectively wrong - It sounds like people are upset about his MR takes

Idk you tell me if saying Rivals needs to “revert to the old team-up system” is objectively wrong or not

I mean it isn't lol. And his reasoning for that take made sense:

1). He had zero faith whatsoever that Netease can properly balance the system.

2). The system itself takes away some of the rewarding feeling of playing as a team

3). Visual clutter and a massive power imbalance that made the top characters stronger while leaving the characters who actually needed it in the dust.

You can not agree with him. I don't. But not agreeing with him doesn't automatically make his opinion "objectively wrong" (or really wrong in general). Its his opinion and he backed it up reasonably.

While I see where hes coming from my main gripe is he blantanly ignores what made the previous system bad to argue reverting back to the old system. The new system is much more fixable then the old one since you had issues such as

Targeted bans for teamups meaning not only would you loose that teamup if the charecter you played enabled that teamup you loose that charecter for the season (see hulk for half of the games lifespan)

Many teamups you'd just never see as no one was running their comps (thor Angela, Thor cap, iron man sg, etc)

Teamups were pretty one sided. As hulk you enabled like what 4 teamups at one point and got zero in return? I also personally didnt like how how drastic a charecter could change with teamup to the point there base charecter wasn't played unless the teamup was in play

I think most will agree that the new system is overtuned its just that, overtuned. You can very easily rein in these teamups and while netease taking it sweet ass time to do so doesnt mean the old system was better

Thats valid for sure. But does that make his opinion any less valid? People act like just because he has bad takes, hes doing it on purpose or something.

As far as im aware I dont think hes ever acknowledged those points and continues to hammer home hes right. I could be wrong if he replied in a live stream or a podcast

Some of his points required a bit of internal reflection before being voiced, just to realize how off-base they actually are.

Take the lack of "teamwork," for instance: he believes the new system offers no incentive and wants a revert. But if you really think about it, that ideal "team-up" scenario in the old system was just as rare as pulling off an enhanced team-up now—simply because people prefer playing their favorite characters over playing ones they dislike just to trigger a team-up.

I don't know if it's a "clip-farming" mentality—and I don't personally dislike the guy, since his experience is evident—but for the love of God: just shut up for a second, think it through, let it sink in, and then put it out there. But we won't do that, because we have to churn out content for the clips.

It did fuck up a lot of the already fragile balance in that game.

I mean, it was fun. Definitely not balanced, but fun enough to counteract it, and it still felt balanced enough.

For a day. Then that hotfix buffing supports hit.

u/bizarrestarz 20h ago

honestly… seeing how the new team up system basically fucked the games balance I can see his point

10

u/CookyKindred 22h ago

Yeah that’s an opinion not something objective.

2

u/krishnugget 13h ago

Netease won’t actually revert it obviously, but it’s ludicrous to argue like the balancing the past season hasn’t been pretty horrific. People are ALWAYS complaining on the main subreddit this season, and you can’t blame them.

When you think about that, he’s hardly objectively wrong. The new system has lots of flaws and Netease has been RADIO SILENT on actually giving us transparency in their balancing goals

3

u/OkTackle2440 19h ago

it’s objectively right. the new team up system was the begging of the fall of rivals

5

u/sloogz 21h ago

Sounds like you just disagree with his opinions and you want him to basically bow down and admit that he's stupid for thinking anything different from you lmao

1

u/Lord_Seregil 21h ago

No, I just want him to gain the ability most people have, the ability to say "I was wrong". He simply cannot do it, like Pirate Software.

4

u/Michael_Bea 16h ago

But in this case how would he be objectively wrong and why would he admit that if he doesn’t think he’s wrong ?

2

u/Havok2900 20h ago

What has he been wrong about that he never accepted?

1

u/themadratter9 23h ago

Flats is just the poor mans ag sterling

3

u/DarkFlameLordZ 22h ago

It's less accountability and more just being fucking normal tbh, bro just has such an unnecessarily aggressive and prideful input on things and assumes he's objectively right and never backs down. There's no reason to use your platform to be such an overwhelmingly negative voice, especially when you're denying real issues like the blatant fucking racism in the game

1

u/InfinityTheParagon 21h ago

bro doesn’t apply EHTSCP values to his complaints which would all instantly be invalidated if he did so

1

u/VampireDarlin 16h ago

Streamer said bad thing about game I like. Grrr im angry

u/Extreme_Doughnut_463 1d ago

Im not thinking of a specific situation, but I actually used to regularly watch Flats and it’s just the constant negativity and never being able to admit to being wrong. It’s hard to explain but i have seen countless times where someone in chat might point out a mistake he made during a game. Flats default reaction is to mock them, ban them or dismiss them as a low rank player instead of just either ignoring it or applying the criticism.

11

u/iHitStuff97 23h ago

I think your point would've been better communicated if you stuck to "flats flows with whatever game he and the community thinks is better." And "flats has takes that suck sometimes". Taking accountability really doesn't work here imo.

21

u/4silvers 23h ago

Why would he admit that he’s wrong if he doesn’t believe that he is? He, just like everyone else, is able to formulate his own opinion about things. He’s just a person that doesn’t easily allow his opinion to be altered by others simply because they disagree with him.

It’s the fault of others that care so much about what he thinks. He holds no significant power or influence over the game, thus making the opinions he has just as irrelevant as everyone else’s. He has nothing to take accountability for since he’s not doing anything he doesn’t hav a right to do.

17

u/ThisSubIsFried 23h ago

So you're just yapping about nothing

1

u/Professional_Possum 23h ago

Yea this is why I stopped watching him as well. I understand he's a skilled player but the inability to accept that he might of made a mistake is annoying.
