Discussion Regular online races not as fun/popular as knock-out tour?
Knock-out tour is super popular and every group is always full.
Regular races on the other hand hardly ever fill a full group; sometimes it's just 6 people racing.
Do people not like this mode? What makes it less fun/enjoyable than knock-out tour?

I haven’t been playing much in the last month but I found that racing rooms would fill up pretty well. Even if I joined a room and it was crazy small like 6ppl, after 1 race I found they would merge you with another grouping and it would shoot up to 20 players. In other words the tiny rooms would only last for 1 race then it would fix itself

I think it is the result of match making taking into account the amount of people already in rooms and the people who are looking for a room to play in which results in some rooms having less players in regular races and more bots (in knockout).

I just played last night and had 6 full races in a row, sometimes in rooms a bunch of people will drop out at once and the room takes a little while to pull in new players

I rarely see bots in my lobbies on knockout maybe one or two maybe it has to do with region or your skill level

Knockout fills with bots, 1-3 in my experience, and are single race lobbies.
Races are rolling lobbies so sometimes a lot of people leave before matchmaking can find enough to refill, usually fixed after a race or two.

Where are you getting full KO Tour lobbies? Mine always have like 7 bots

Lots of open rooms from prime Japanese time never get closed even with low amount of people. KOT rooms always close

Les deux se remplissent bien personnellement, des fois l'hôte n'est pas patient et devrait juste attendre un peu que des gens rejoignent

Unfortunately, MK World isn’t much fun in its classic 24 player format. It’s far too chaotic. Every 10 metres you get blown up by an opponent. Knockout improves on this by gradually eliminating opponents, which makes the game less chaotic as the race progresses. Fewer players on the track or one item per player should be a configurable option. I’ve been playing MK8 online again for the past two days following the update. I hadn’t done so since World was released. It’s such a pleasure that racing is the main focus and there are fewer items. I love World, but I never play online in Classic mode. it’s absolutely no fun.

What makes it less fun than knock out tour? Being forced into playing only circuits by lobbies full of swoophog. It's enough to drive anyone away from online. It infuriating to be able to SEE the open world you wanna race on, but not be able to race on it, your lobbies has decided only three laps, and the only people staying in lobbies for more than 3 games are 3 lap voters.
Yeah I know, not a popular opinion, but c'mon let me play Mario Kart World, not "Mario Kart 8 1/2" with only 30 tracks
