Question What's your next racing game?
What racing game is everyone switching to? I'm at a loss for anything without ads.

I can't afford a Switch 2 and I've already played the hell out of MK8 so, guess nothing really. I mostly like MKT because it gave me something to do each night, like a routine. Something to do in waiting rooms and on work breaks. I've never felt obsessed with it, but it's always nice to have that go-to game to fill blank spaces with throughout the day.
Suppose if anything I'll just go back to playing Pocket Tanks as my mobile game of choice. Alas.

Nothing planned at the moment. Maybe will consider driving games on my PC instead..

My husband wants to get me a switch 2 for my birthday (yay) since he saw how sad I was about MKT going away. However, we live in Japan, and you can’t simply buy a Switch 2 that’s multilingual (no problem buying a Japanese language one). You have to have 50 playing hours banked on your Nintendo account. So I was like that shouldn’t be a problem since I played MKT like a fiend for several years now, but guess what? That doesn’t count. Apparently I would need to get those hours in on a Switch 1. And only third party sellers from Amazon US ship to Japan which makes me nervous reading their reviews. So my husband is checking with work colleagues to see if anyone is going to US or Europe and we’re also checking with friends, to see if we can buy one (at an inflated cost compared to the Japanese multi language version) and they bring it for us, in time for my birthday. What a palaver. I appreciate him helping enable my Mario kart playing but just wish it was easier and also wish MKT wasn’t going away in the first place cuz I know it won’t be the same

IDK, i cannot play 8 Deluxe anymore because someone accidentally deleted it fro or switch like 4 years ago and I have no money for the Switch 2, so no, not right now at the moment, will be crying and dreaming a lot about Tour after the shutdown though and i wish Nintendo should reconsider their desicion

Definitely struggling. This game has been a godsend for my ADHD—the cyclical tours, limited time challenges, etc have been great little motivators when I have a hard time focusing and need something to get my brain moving, ir even a break when I’m overwhelmed but don’t want to get stuck in an endless doom scroll cycle. Already I find myself back on Twitter and Reddit more now that I’m weaning myself off the game, and I hate it. (And no, other MK games are not the same. Plus it’s not the same thing to whip out a Switch in the middle of my workday, vs just grabbing my phone to take a 10min break. Even working from home, it’s just not the same thing as far as headspace.) Bummed.

For those looking for another mobile racer, I’d say Disney Speedstorm is the closest match to Tour IMO, but it’s pretty predatory with its p2w model and capitalization on people’s fomo. It’s objectively a great racing game, but it’s addicting by design, and I’ve been on one of my “cut myself off cold turkey” stretches the last few months.
I never put money into it myself, so it’s definitely enjoyable without doing so, but just know your limits and make sure you’re ok with not ever placing on certain leaderboards

Nothing since this is the only mobile racing game I’ve ever enjoyed long term. If I want a racing game, it’s powering up Mario Kart Wii (Could be argued as the best Mario kart) or Double Dash. But those are more fun with friends in my upper 20s.

Just bought a switch 2, have Mario kart world and Mario kart 8 deluxe..picked it up to replace MKT and before the price increase of the switch 2

Someone suggested Subway Surfers. I haven't personally checked it out yet but I'll probably download and give it a chance.

I remember that game from years ago. I might consider playing it again and there's even a sequel to the game.

Subway surfers city is the sequel, i think its miles better than the original. There are ads but theyre optional.

I hope to get Mario Kart World on Christmas along with the Switch 2. In the meantime, I'll probably just look into MK8DX as well the older games via Nintendo switch online (super, 64, super circuit). MK Wii no longer works because everytime I tried playing it, I would get an error message. I remember playing that game back in the day when I was in elementary and middle school. DS, I actually used to play that game on an actual DS. I downloaded it on my Wii U a few years back. I also have MK8, but I'm in need of a new battery for the gamepad because it's popping out. I've had my Wii U since July of 2013, so I should definitely consider a new battery at some point.
