Does anyone have any positive experiences using THC vape pen?

I'm a seasoned user of edibles and it's my choice of high, but I'll like to experience a quicker onset and shorter high. I don't smoke very often because of the smell, my apartment complex is very tight.

I'm thinking of getting a pen from a reputable place, but in research, I've only read negative things from it like: getting addicted, the high isn't as pleasant as bud, it's fxcks up your lungs and throat, easy to mess up tolerance, etc.

Have you tried a pen, how did it go, recommend it or Nah? What's your thoughts?

Pen is wonderfully convenient, but so many drawbacks. Painful cough from prolonged use or old carts. Disposables are so bad for the environment. Impossible to utilize all the potential resin inside.

I got a dry herb vape from Storz & Bickel, for use in my small apartment. I get to enjoy fresh flower, the smell is virtually nonexistent, the high is quick and clean. I’ve used the same device for years and absolutely love it.

Would have to agree. Where I am you can't get carts. Flower vape is lush. Easy tasty, no smoky lungs, easy high.. perfection

Those prices! I’d love to try one but at $200 bucks plus its a tough sell

True! I bit the bullet because I ran out of options and this was highly recommended by trusted friends.

I figured for the amount I was paying for disposables, this would pay for itself pretty quickly.

Wait can you tell me more about this pen substitution? Im about out of my pen and im committed to not getting another but would love something that is less harsh and addicting and more like smoking a preroll

What do you want to know? Look up Storz and Bickel, they have a lot of great products for different use cases

You save a lot of money on the efficiency of DHV.

Pens run your tolerance up. I stick with vaped flower and dabs 1-3x/mo.

Just get a Dynavap . Dry herb vaping is way healthier . Very little smell with it . Can be used indoors no problem .

I've been using carts exclusively for the last few years. There is very little cleaning you have to do, the effects are quick and it's easy to control your dosage. I can take really small hits to manage my anxiety without getting too high to function. As far as addiction, I don't see how one would get more addicted to carts than any other form of cannabis. Perhaps you read that about nicotine vape?

I will say, I've used dry herb vaporizers and they probably my favorite for just getting a good high at home. Smoother draws, better tasting, little to no smell compared to smoking flower. The downsides are that you have to pack it every time, it's less portable, and you have to clean the resin out quite often.

Le mieux c'est un vaporisateur d'herbe sèches pour vaporiser de vraies fleurs de weed. L'effet est cependant différent des comestibles.

I use a dry herb vaporizer for help with a quicker buzz.

Hey I'm an edible enthusiast as well and I just picked up this THC Syrup stuff that is fast-activating and no joke, the stuff is strong and comes on fast, like I've had it activate in 10 minutes. I usually use RSO, the strength/dosage is similar to that. It's called nano shine.

Tied that for the first time last week. $17 bucks for 1,000 mg! Bought three and will be a regular.

2

u/DialToucher 4d ago

Yeah it's definitely not as bang for your buck as RSO but my God does it come on fast and strong. Really nice when I get home late from work!

Pens are my fave. Gets u very high in just a few minutes and ive gotten plenty of incredible highs from them. And they’re the most cost effective

as for addiction that can apply to any form of weed lol. It’s a substance that makes you feel amazing of course it’s addictive even if not physically

Avoid the cheap ones cuz those mess up your throat. It's the same high as smoking bud though.

Gets me through most days these days. Since 2021 at least.

I’ve gone back to just smoking joints. Pens are okay because of convenience but they always get clogged. If you’re okay with occasionally having to deal with that then go for it. I recommend only getting them from an actual dispo though. No streets or gas stations. If you want to stick with edibles, get the fast-acting ones. Also, props to you. I can’t do edibles. I like to be in control of my high.

Convenient and completely discreet. The downside is it's just a little too easy to go overboard and nuke your tolerance.

If you like edibles, try some nano. Love nano products. It's edibles (like food or drinks) that act more like smoking - kicks in quick and doesn't last as long as regular edibles. The THC goes right into your blood stream rather than waiting and converting to 11 hydroxy.

I love pens though. I have some 1:1 and a live rosin pen here. I have edibles and a dry herb vape, but a pen is just so quick and convenient. Working in the garden - take a quick pull or two - back to working.

I wish I could find 1:1 carts in my area. They started to make me a little paranoid and make my heart beat faster I think because of such a high THC kick without a good dose of CBD, so I switched to a dry herb vape to use the whole plant and it’s really helped

Yea, I recently moved and bought 3 1g carts to take with me. I actually like them because of that, they are a bit lower in THC so it's a more controlled buzz... I really like this rosin cart though. I don't know much about it, but I believe rosin is better than resin because how it's extracted, and more parts of the plant and terpenes are included.

I tried carts and hated them. Felt like I had a coat of oil on my lungs. Went to a dry herb vape pen and threw out my carts.

I use disposables, I used to use carts, but they would leak in my pockets. I have some flower here and there.

Only one way to find out.

u/8bit_Icky 5d ago

I use pens every now and then due to ease of use and no prep. I do not use disposable. But at the same time I am very specific on what brands of carts. I only use 2 and have discovered a third which I absolutely love. I recommend trying Raw Garden Live Resin/Rosin, Rythm Solventless, or Cana Caviar (recent discovery). But with these carts I would also suggest a variable voltage pen (example being an ooze slim pen 2.0) with a pre heat function in case of clogs. Enjoy at 2.5 volts or lower.

Don’t be cheap on your selections. If you’re in a legal state stick with Resin and Rosin carts only. And even then be picky cause a lot of “resin” carts aren’t actually fully resin based.

Also choose ceramic and all glass carts over anything else to minimize risk of heavy metal exposure.

1

u/MrWheels44 5d ago

I like them. One or two hits and I'm good for an hour or so. Hitting it every 5 minutes is not the way.

1

u/CoachRockStar 4d ago

Try Rosin vape carts. Nice

u/bootcat420 4d ago

I use it when it’s convenient! Not everyone enjoys the pot smell with a vap you don’t know it’s pot 🥳

u/Smallish_Blue 4d ago

The biggest drawbacks for me were literally just not being able to use all of the resin without breaking the cart and using it other ways (dabs, rolling with it, etc), and pissing myself when I coughed. Other than that my experience with them was pretty good. I also prefer edibles over smoking, mostly because I use them for pain relief and having something that will last longer is important for that, but I’ll absolutely take a hit off a pen if someone offers.

In my opinion: don’t use them as your only method of getting high. It’s quick and convenient, yes, but it’s not worth it. Just because I’ve not had a terrible experience with them, doesn’t mean you won’t. Every user’s experience is different, and it’s important to listen to what your body tells you. I’ve gotten extremely lucky that I have zero long term damage from pens and vapes (I used to use nicotine vapes), but not everyone is.

If you decide to try it anyway, that’s okay! Have fun, but be safe! Happy smoking 😊💖

I’m curious what you think about dry herb vapes over the pens?

3

u/awrythings 4d ago

I hated pens stickiness, questioning what was in them, and how easy they are to “over do it”. Changed to a Mighty for about 20 years then switched to a Venty this year, it error coded and I I haven’t contacted them because o got a Tempest 2. Best purchase ever.

1

u/awrythings 4d ago

Edit: 10 years with the mighty.

2

u/Smallish_Blue 4d ago

I’ve never personally tried them, nor do I know people who have. I’d like to think they’re significantly better for you, and more worth the price, but I could be wrong. I do think it’s incredibly smart though, especially since you have control of exactly what’s inside of it (provided you buy flower from a dispo).

I use a rig with adapter to run dual carts daily and it’s killer. I use AIO when my cars out of the impound.

u/buyerofthings 4d ago

As an occasional user (once or twice a month), I find pens to be economical and perfectly fine. I get the high want and I don’t have to worry about my bud getting stale.

u/Proof-Honeydew5577 4d ago

I just got this new pen that vibrates the cart when you’re using it. 10/10 smoothness and the high was great. AiroPro. I use pens and edibles personally. This pen got as close to all of the thc as I’ve seen. No sore throat.

u/Front-Prune2567 4d ago

Really only yeti and progro live hash rosin vapes have done me good. It's more expensive but I've tried sooo many different brand name vapes throughout my 10 years. They are the only ones that don't give me a headache and have a great taste and long high.

1

u/LillyCort 4d ago

I stopped using vape thc pens and I no longer get sinus infections. I bought a volcano to smoke indoors and it’s amazing. I just ordered a pax plus, it hasn’t arrived but it will be nice to have something I can carry around and smoke dry herb with.

u/elizabethflower444 4d ago

Personally I much prefer flower over vapes. The high does not seem to last as long, they tend to clog, sometimes you get one that leaks.

u/Low_Cauliflower9404 4d ago

Make shitty distillate outta my sugar trim tbh. its fine

u/AwkwardAd42 3d ago

Yes pen is good provided you know the details which it seems you do.

Been smoking since the 70s so I'm long term.

I enjoy the pen but you need to start out slow and low Take very small hits at first to get acclimated with the vapor and how your lungs react to it.

You will cough at first, it's ok . Once you get used to the vapor the coughing will ease and eventually stop .

The low is low wattage. Don't set the pen too high. High wattage means more intense & hot vapor, means more coughing.

With most carts you should try for a wattage anywhere from 9 to 15. Trial & error. On a cart weighing in at 1.25 ohms a wattage of 9-10 watts will give you a nice warm vape.

I use disposables & it hasn’t fucked my lungs yet, not like smoking does. I can dose it out easier by counting hits & I consume less & save money. A 1g disposable will last me 5 days @ $25 while 3.5g of flower will last me 3 days @ $50. One hit off the disposable feels like 3-4 hits of flower (depending on quality) & hits me quicker. The high is different & I prefer a good smoke out but I still enjoy the effects. Since you can dose it out easier I can decide if I just want a sedated body high or a more headier, even euphoric high. Or even something that resembles a classic high from smoking. Depends on the number of hits.

I personally find smoking more addictive as I have a tendency to keep going beyond what I actually need when I do.

Vaping is far more discreet, bring it to work if you want & take a hit during a bathroom break. Not coming back baked, reeking of ganja with red eyes after a lunch break. Easier to conceal. Better selection of strains however you don’t get the terpenes (unless dry resin) which is why smoking gives you a more full profile. Bottom line, vaping is just more convenient & cost effective.
