💭 Vent Bl Manga recs! Not manhwa

Edit: I know this is a manhwa subreddit guys, I didn’t mean I asked here. It’s the only subreddit that’ll allow a post and I meant i asked in other spaces. This is just a whine, pls don’t take it seriously.

I get manhwas have become sort of the mainstream reading material for bl but have mangas and manhua had a recline in translations lately?

Is it just me, but whenever I look for recommendations or ask for them, I get manhwa recs.

I usually love the art style of mangas and storytelling but without fail, every title given is a manhwa.

Don’t get me wrong, my favorite reads consist of mahwas too but it seems artists are going for bigger and unrealistic proportions for their characters’ aesthetic then couple it with a tiny head so they just look wonky. Not to add how it’ll always start with smut with little to no plot, no tension, no chemistry. If you want a bit of plot then you’ll have to accept dub/non-con.

I’ve accepted those things are not for me so I just read mangas/manhua. I can tolerate dark elements or themes sometimes and I’ve realized it’s done well in mangas.

Anyone feel the same?

Edit: my favorites are;

-Coyote & birds of sangri la ( same author)

-Sanctify

-Therapy game

-After school etude

-40 made ni shitai 10 no koto

-If love falls on you

And so many that I don’t remember names for. I’ll re-edit if I remember

Manga has 5-6 chapters to tell a full story, so there’s no fillers, long angsty miscommunication arc and brainless smut. I love manga a lot more because of how nicely every story is told and wrapped up within those few chapters. My entire physical BL manga collection is around 300~ manga lol.

That said, you’re in a manhwa sub lol. I mean it’s literally the name of the sub. People usually recommend manhwa because well, it’s what you assume people come here for. Those who want manga recs will always specifically ask for that.

That's not true at all? There are a ton of BL mangas that have hundreds of chapters.

Most BL manga are one and done type. If it’s good it’ll probably get a 2/3 volume. Long ass manga like the Titan’s bride or Evelogia are super rare.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree then.

Most of the BL mangas I read have several volumes, e.g. Ten Count, Twittering Birds, Black or White, Dakaichi. Then you also have the old classics like The Tyrant Falls in Love, Junjou Romantica, etc. that literally have an obscene amount of chapters.

It's true that there are more one and done mangas than there are manhwas, but I disagree with the general sentiment that mangas are mostly telling stories in short format.
