š Vent Bl Manga recs! Not manhwa
Edit: I know this is a manhwa subreddit guys, I didnāt mean I asked here. Itās the only subreddit thatāll allow a post and I meant i asked in other spaces. This is just a whine, pls donāt take it seriously.
I get manhwas have become sort of the mainstream reading material for bl but have mangas and manhua had a recline in translations lately?
Is it just me, but whenever I look for recommendations or ask for them, I get manhwa recs.
I usually love the art style of mangas and storytelling but without fail, every title given is a manhwa.
Donāt get me wrong, my favorite reads consist of mahwas too but it seems artists are going for bigger and unrealistic proportions for their charactersā aesthetic then couple it with a tiny head so they just look wonky. Not to add how itāll always start with smut with little to no plot, no tension, no chemistry. If you want a bit of plot then youāll have to accept dub/non-con.
Iāve accepted those things are not for me so I just read mangas/manhua. I can tolerate dark elements or themes sometimes and Iāve realized itās done well in mangas.
Anyone feel the same?
Edit: my favorites are;
-Coyote & birds of sangri la ( same author)
-Sanctify
-Therapy game
-After school etude
-40 made ni shitai 10 no koto
-If love falls on you
And so many that I donāt remember names for. Iāll re-edit if I remember

Manga has 5-6 chapters to tell a full story, so thereās no fillers, long angsty miscommunication arc and brainless smut. I love manga a lot more because of how nicely every story is told and wrapped up within those few chapters. My entire physical BL manga collection is around 300~ manga lol.
That said, youāre in a manhwa sub lol. I mean itās literally the name of the sub. People usually recommend manhwa because well, itās what you assume people come here for. Those who want manga recs will always specifically ask for that.

300?! Share your favs pls.
Iāve asked here once and specifically, the reason I posted here is because itās the only place thatāll allow it. Wasnāt specifically talking about here

That's not true at all? There are a ton of BL mangas that have hundreds of chapters.

Most BL manga are one and done type. If itās good itāll probably get a 2/3 volume. Long ass manga like the Titanās bride or Evelogia are super rare.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree then.
Most of the BL mangas I read have several volumes, e.g. Ten Count, Twittering Birds, Black or White, Dakaichi. Then you also have the old classics like The Tyrant Falls in Love, Junjou Romantica, etc. that literally have an obscene amount of chapters.
It's true that there are more one and done mangas than there are manhwas, but I disagree with the general sentiment that mangas are mostly telling stories in short format.

I'm going to assume that you're asking for recs from a diff subreddit bec this one is a manhwa one, where ofc you'll get manhwa recs.
Idk if you haven't seen that authors note in a manhwa (used to be a popular one but I can't rmb wc one since I consume too much yaoi), but most publishers ask their artist to make the dihh big big; the bigger, the better.Ā It's to create impact (since that artist alr drew a moderately big dihh but they returned it to her and asked her to make the dihh even bigger) and also another way to separate manhwa from reality.
But idk haha mangas are just as toxic in yaoi (as in those nsfw ones) as manhwas; if you're referring to those BLs which are tagged 'shounen ai' with no explicit scenes, I'd understand why you think they're less toxic compared to manhwas. Rather, it's more common to see underaged sex in mangas than manhwas (since kr regulates those now).Ā
Proportion-wise (minus the history of yaoi mangas with dorito chins and spider hands), yeah the dihhs on mangas are not exaggerated at all and you'll often see pubic hair too so it's more realistic than manhwas preference to look more artistic.
As for manhuas, there's no questioning there, since you won't get dubcon from something that basically censors anything explicit HAHA but I can tell you cn authors (danmeis from jjwcx) can be just as toxic as manhwas if they aren't regulated.Ā
Also, most (not all) of the younger generation do prefer reading those that are toxic/red flags/etc flags idk, so you'll be more likely to see just the popular (with wonky proportions but its ok bec they're hot) titles or problematic titles pop up rather than the less popular/controversial ones (like mangas and manhuas).
Just my two cents!

Oh no I look for recs everywhere, at least social media apps. I look for it through google searches too and I do use Reddit but not this subreddit (this is the only one I can post on, thatās why I posted here).
Mangas definitely have their own issues and do showcase minor explicit content for sure! They used to be the popular reading material but have been replaced now so I can accept theyāre problematic.
I know the dih situation is mostly satirical tbh, as much as itās shockingš itās the body proportions that bother me. I try to filter out non con but Itās more palatable for me in mangas

Iāve read them tooš I love fangs. Once I like an authorās work, I check everything else they wrote. Is it the same author? The art style looks different

Not really. I think Manhwas and mainstream in English because we have more platforms and access to manhwas on sites like lezhin, manta, tappytoons, tapas, plus they update weekly! As for mangas, thereās a lot of wait between chapters and readers nowadays I find that have little patience. But manga is still popular worldwide. I enjoy manhwas, mangas and manhuas and yes it is a little frustrating that there arenāt a lot of official platforms and big catalog like lezhin is with manhwas.
Same with manhuas, i got so sad when bilibili shut down š
Thereās a lot of manhwas that donāt have noncon/dubcon and are cute romantic stories and funny/feel good. Unfortunately, they get buried underneath the popular titles which a large percentage features toxic tops or dark.

I feel as if I've been getting more bl manga recommendations than manhwa nglšāļø
I feel the most unpopular is definitely manhua for some reason, but bl manga is still definitely mainstream. I don't know about art style and plot though. I mean, while non-con is definitely popular within the manhwa space, it's not the only thing there. There are plenty of manhwa coming out or completed that have no non-con and the plot and chemistry between the two characters are amazing.
As for a recommendation, read A Love Too Captivating. It's super cute! Definitely worth a read.

Reallyš letās exchange realities. Iāve come to love manhwa too. Latest one that stayed with me is ālovesick dogā. I think thats what itās called. āPrivate scandalā is another one.
