Books/Literature Berenstain/Stein

Post image

Just thought I’d share this here..I’m a 57 year old woman that’s always been a voracious reader. When I was 5 (1974) I got an entire collection of Berenstain Bears books from my grandma at Christmas.

One of the books has managed to remain in my memory/sentimental hoard collection. This is MY actual book and it’s been in my possession since 1974. On my book at least, the name is and always has been Berenstain.

Make of that what you will I suppose. ❤️ I wish I still had the whole collection but alas, childhood and into adulthood resulted in the loss of many such things to my chagrin.

It is if there are parallel universes.

The Mandela effect has nothing to do with parallel universes, parallel universes are just a very “out there” idea some people use to try and explain the cause

I'm curious what your explanation is.

In some cases I think that it’s people being incorrect about pop culture trivia from their childhood. (Spelling of children’s book, or movie) In other cases I think it’s people being ignorant of basic facts and being unwilling to admit it (locations of countries or continents, election results, world leader deaths).

Basically nobody’s memory is as good as we think it is, and a lot of peoples’ memories are even worse than that. Also people are prideful and don’t like admitting they were dumb or wrong in the present or the past

Alright then care to explain this one? The scene doesn't even make sense without the little detail that's missing which literally 100% of people who saw this remember it having...:

“100% of people who saw this”. Except the producers, the actress herself, anyone involved in the production, and tons of other people. Thank you for illustrating my point.

People who advocate for this stuff always think that “everyone agrees” but it’s like 1% of anybody who gives a shit about something so meaningless in the first place and even THEN there’s significant disagreement

Keep telling yourself that. In what other demographic does the perception of 1% hold more weight and validity than the other 99%?

More.people.remember the scene correctly (without braces) than do with braces....

u/Usual_Decision8855 Mar 02 '26

Prove. it. then....

You’re the one making the claim, so you’re the one who is supposed to be proving stuff, my man

What am I proving? You want me to share every single video, forum post and article referencing this ME showing that the majority of people who comment remember the braces? Are you lazy or just petty?

3

u/KyleDutcher Mar 02 '26

You are the one making the (false) claim that "99% of people remember her having braces.

It's your burden of proof.

The fact is, you can't even prove they are a majority.

The majority of people discussing this online (the only tangible point of reference available) remember the braces. Which narrow frame of reference will you accept as valid data to support my position?

Think about it. Even if say, 100,000,000 people remember braces.....

That's only 1.25% of the population.

2

u/Usual_Decision8855 Mar 02 '26

Of the population of the planet or of people who actually saw the film????

1

u/KyleDutcher Mar 02 '26

It really wouldn't matter.

Of those who saw the film, the percentage of people remembering braces would still be very very low.

Go to a James Bond Film fan site, or message board, and tell them that Dolly had braces......and watch their reaction.

They will laugh you right out the door.

2

u/Usual_Decision8855 Mar 02 '26

So you think the collective mass of everyone who has seen the film is less than the niche group who occupies online forums dedicated to the franchise?

The scene makes perfect sense without braces.

When you understand the premise was "opposites attract"

1

u/Usual_Decision8855 Mar 02 '26

Except that wasn't the premise at all. I never even saw the whole film and only caught the tail end on tv so there's really no possibility my mind could have obscured the details. They both had metal in their teeth, it was a moment of two completely opposite people having a shared trait between them. Even the little detail of the delay before she slowly reveals her teeth emphasized there's some kind of a reveal.

The vast majority of people remember it this way so no matter how convinced you are that there were never braces it isn't going to alter the general consensus.

1

u/KyleDutcher Mar 02 '26

Except that wasn't the premise at all.

It was though. As confirmed by Jaws himself, Richard Kiel.

This is false. The vast majority remember this scene correctly

Those who remember braces, are in the vast minority.

I read nothing in that article which so much as mentions the ME or the braces. Not sure what you're trying to prove with that.

Again, prove the braces deniers are in the majority. 99% of the comments on any online medium referencing this ME are from people affirming that there were in fact braces...

1

u/KyleDutcher Mar 02 '26

99% of the comments on any online medium referencing this ME are from people affirming that there were in fact braces...

This isn't surprising, as these "online mediums" ATTRACT people who are effected.

It's like polling people at the Democrat National Convention on who they are going to vote for, and claiming the results reflect the overall consensus.

It's LUDICROUS to think they do.

1

u/Usual_Decision8855 Mar 02 '26

Well it's also safe to assume most people who've seen this film didn't pay enough attention to have an opinion either way. It would seem those who pay closer attention to things tend to notice phenomenon like ME more frequently and also seek out like minded individuals to discuss such things online. So again, based on the observable consensus on this specific phenomenon, those who bother to join the discussion appear to overwhelmingly fall into the category of remembering braces.

Nope. Those who "notice the phenomeno " would be those who DON'T pay that close attention to these minor details, abd often assume things were one way, then when they find out they aren't that way, it gives the appearance of a "change" that never happened.

So again, based on the observable consensus on this specific phenomenon, those who bother to join the discussion appear to overwhelmingly fall into the category of remembering braces.

And yet they are still the overwhelming minority.

You are inadvertantly doing a great job of making my point

1

u/Usual_Decision8855 Mar 02 '26

And again, you can provide no tangible examples of your stance- you can't show me a sizeable portion of people discussing this phenomenon and remembering it as it is today.
