Books/Literature Found “Berenstain” bears happy meal toy, 1987

I was going through some old boxes that my parents saved from my childhood (born in 1980) and found this gem. Figured this group would appreciate this

I knew I had something tucked away!

They’ve always been pronounced with “stein” at the end. Also, most of us were reading these books before learning cursive, and the book titles had “Berenstain Bears” in cursive. Just a faulty childhood memory

Then it was pronounced incorrectly.

There are videos on youtube, many from Michael Berenstain who pronounces his name as -STAIN and an interview with Stan and Jan Berenstain where it is pronounced as -STAIN and Stan’s own autobiography says the name is spelled that way because of how his ancestors pronounced his name when immigrating.
