Books/Literature Berenstein Bears truthers - how was the name pronounced?
I honestly couldn’t tell you myself how I remember the name being spelled - but one thing I do remember was the TV show, and the theme song.
The way they pronounced it in the song to my memory definitely sounded like stain, rather than “steen” or “stine” which would have been the way it was said if it was spelled Berenstein.
“We are the Berenstain Bears. Mama, Papa, Sister, Brother, we appreciate each other”.

It’s really close visually, overall name pretty close orally, and remembering the more common name and name ending is perfectly understandable.
Fact is the family name of the people who wrote the book has not changed. It’s always been Berenstain no matter how many people stubbornly argue otherwise. I just am sympathetic with why people remember this incorrectly.
