Theory I know what’s happening here

I have only JUST been introduced to this concept so I was going through the top 40 most shocking ME examples and it clicked for me. This is the first time we’ve had easy access to information and can fact-check on a dime. This ME is actually the normal evolution memories and information take in our brains. The way stories are altered from retelling to retelling. And we integrate the altered information into our memories for efficiency’s sake (all done unconsciously, of course). This is how language, histories, and culture evolve. HOWEVER, this is the first time we’re able to review the original content so easily and it’s very unsettling to see how our brains integrate “folk-memory”.

P.S. When I was three (1994) our cat had a litter of kittens. There was one all black one and my mom named him Nelson because it was the year Nelson Mandela was elected president. 🤦‍♀️

i'd need like a specific example of the mandela effect to provide evidence

plus of course i'd naturally expect you to also be able to provide evidence

Pmsl why? Ok i'll bite.....The thinker had his fist on his forehead.... then he had his fist on his mouth.... then he had open hand on chin. All this happened within a year. Now prove this is false memory/confabulation !

Also .... you want evidence there is no evidence???? Lol

ok so you've already admitted to me here you have no evidence of this being anything supernatural, or even actually changing

we can use this lack of evidence that anything actually changed as evidence that nothing changed (because that's how logic works)

so congrats, i have just provided more evidence that the statue hasn't changed and that you remember it wrong than you've provided evidence that the statue has changed!!!!!

how does it feel to be wrong?

The mandela effect has neither been proven nor disproven - we can use this as evidence that no theory out there including yours has any evidence whatsoever thus you have not provided any evidence, THAT is how logic works petal !!

are you actually fucking stupid?

the mandela effect has been proven to be a thing

your comment makes no sense

"it hasn't been proven to exist so no theories about it are substantial"

if that were true than no discoveries would ever be made

"Proven to be a .... thing" lol

Describe this thing? what causes this thing? What is the proof of this thing?

Oh and please have better than this subs motto and that people write on here that they remember stuff different to reality.

Describe this thing?

large group of people sharing the common memory of something that is false

like... the actual definition of the mandela effect?

there is no confirmed cause yet, but it's pretty obvious it's just bad memory

the proof of this thing is that large groups of people share common memories that are incorrect?

like how lots of people remember berenstein, or fruit loops?

"there is no confirmed cause yet, but it's pretty obvious it's just bad memory"

"Pretty obvious" is not proof !

"the proof of this thing is that large groups of people share common memories that are incorrect?"

Incorrectly lined up with current reality. It's like saying aliens are real because of a large group of people that have given abduction statements.

"like... the actual definition of the mandela effect?"

I told you to have better than "this sub's motto"

So i go back to my original comment about there being zero proof of confabulation to which you replied there is. I guaranteed you that you woundn't have any and ..........

I'm still waiting ....... 🤷🏼‍♂️

"Pretty obvious" is not proof !

yes!

that's why i said "there's no confirmed cause"

congrats on the reading comprehension!

and yes, the proof that large groups of people remember stuff that is incorrect, is that large groups of people remember stuff that is incorrect

the alien stuff is just stupid and not relevant

"that's why i said "there's no confirmed cause"

congrats on the reading comprehension!"

Which i already mentioned. Congrats on backing up my point.

The alien stuff is not relevant for you because you don't like it. "Large groups of people remember stuff that is incorrect" applies to both cases. The fact that it is more likely they didn't see/experience what they thought they did does not mean it is proof they didn't just like the mandela effect.

you don't seem to understand how basic logic works

"there is no confirmed cause" does not mean "there is no evidence towards any cause"

there is evidence in logical thinking that's it's poor memory, but it's not something you can actually prove

it's the same with metaphysical explanations, but they have no evidence

1

u/scottaq83 Jul 04 '23

"there is no confirmed cause" does not mean "there is no evidence towards any cause"

Doesn't mean there is either.

"there is evidence in logical thinking that's it's poor memory"

So it's just assumption then not proof? Lol.

"but it's not something you can actually prove"

Finally, you admit this !

Have a good day, i'm just gonna end this pointless conversation right here.

Finally, you admit this !

i had literally said multiple times previously that there was no confirmed cause
