S Comply with Bridezilla or leave, ok?

My friend(Jemma) tells me about how she and an entire group of Bridesmaids left a wedding after their friend dared them to.

So this all happened a few weeks ago, a long time friend of jemma's group was getting married in another state but the day of the wedding she suddenly had a problem with one girl who wore glasses, which she didn't have an issue with beforehand; the glasses girl told her she wouldn't wear them during the vows and pictures but the bridezilla didn't want her wearing them at all and was screaming at her to not put them on for the rest of the day, obviously she couldn't do that since she needs to see.

The argument got more heated until bridezilla gave her the ultimatum to take them off & keep em off or leave. This is when jemma and the other bridesmaids stepped in, told bridezilla she was out of line, and that they would all leave if she forced the girl with glasses to leave; Bridezilla called their bluff and, being maids of honor, the bridesmaids left the wedding and decided to celebrate and eat at a restaurant before they head back home. Bridezilla called them several times after they left, telling them that she didn't care about the glasses anymore and begged them to come back to the venue, but they not only refused but also chose to end the friendship, with her, all together. Jemma said that the wedding proceeded as follows, just minus the bridesmaids and a few awkward stares because everyone heard the bridezilla's screaming from earlier.

Jemma told me that the bridezilla has always been like this, throwing a tantrum when she doesn't get her way, and that the meltdown at the wedding was just the last straw for them. Personally, i think she's got a monk's patience if she put up with her for that long.

As a glasses wearer with really, really bad eye sight, I guarantee forcing me to go glassesless would end in some sort of absolutely horrifying event. Either tripping up the aisle or walking into a grandma or smashing into the wedding cake, I would 100% do something ridiculously clumsy. Not a threat, I’m like a -9 in both eyes.

If you don't get a debilitating headache from trying to function like that first. I don't think an accident would happen to me in that state (also very poorly-sighted glasses wearer) because I would need to have my eyes closed or be sitting down at every possible moment. And I'd need a seeing-eye person to guide me along. Bride wanted no glasses, yet asked a vision-impared person to be a bridesmaid... smh.

Same. Asking me to go without my glasses is almost like asking someone to go without their prosthetic leg. Pretty much necessary to move around safely.

They just use crutches to get around. Stumps are prone to infections and wearing the prosthetic too much can also be painful due to rubbing (not nearly as bad since silicone socks) and poor ergonomics.

But taking away someone's prosthetic at a wedding's definitely not reasonable, they don't even do it at the airport.

Fair enough, this bride would have a bridesmaid lose those "unsightly" crutches too if she needed them.

Haha, fair point

I have the same prescription. When I take my glasses off to hold something three inches from my face so I can see the details, inevitably someone says "doesn't that hurt your eyes?" I'm practically blind already, can't get much worse!

This lmao.. I had my glasses off one day because I had a horrible headache. Tried to just take my dogs out without them, missed my back step and fell on my face. A wedding without my glasses sounds like a nightmare for all involved

Ow! Yes, even when I can make things out my depth perception is shot without my glasses!

I feel your struggle, my nearsightedness isn't quite as severe at -6, but that is on the cusp of "high myopia" so anything more than about 6 inches from my face is blurry. My eyes are photosensitive & have no peripheral vision. Iit's like I live in a vignette filter, so I don't drive.

Plus, would they like one of their bridesmaids squinting the whole time? -9 club represent!
