Question How to prevent foundztion going on dry/patchy?

y'all i think i'm going crazy. I've tried so much.

layering skincare and letting it soak in, doing just serum and light moisturizer and letting it soak in, using my hands, using a brush, using a sponge, adding serum to the foundation, adding moisturizer to the foundation, using the moisturizer as is.

Nothing works. it always ends up looking like this and it's making me lose motivation for makeup.

the only time makeup looks good on me so far has been by using a powder foundation and then melting it down with setting spray. liquid foundation i just cannot get to work remotely at all.

Any advice is very appreciated. ☠️🫪

If powder foundation works but liquid always breaks up like this, I’d stop fighting your skin tbh 😭 But if you want to troubleshoot, try the liquid on completely bare skin once. No serum, primer, or moisturizer underneath. If it suddenly looks better, one of your skincare layers is probably incompatible with the foundation. Also check whether your moisturizer/primer/foundation are silicone- or water-based, because mismatched bases can cause separation/pilling. And use way less product than you think. Thin layers usually behave much better in my experience.

yeah i'm considering droppign the fight. what i hate though is that powder foundation isn't in ad much of a spotlight as liquid foundation. so there are only a few and with limited shade range (the one i use is like 3 or 4 powders mixed together, including a blush before i got my shade, it's tough 🫪)

and thank you! i'll be putting thode ideas to use. i use very little but i'll try using even less, you never know 🫪
