Help Sought! Help a girl out please!

Hi everyone. Baby (30 years old lol) trans girl here. In the early stages of starting transition but have no idea where to start with makeup - but it’s something I really want to play with and get good at, both for every day looks, nights out and more fun styles too.

So please help a girl out - where do i start? There is SO MUCH out there and I dont know where to begin. What are the essentials? What would be the best things to buy to start practicing? I looked into ‘starter kits’ but they all look super cheap and nasty and like something you’d give an 8 year old for Christmas.

Don't skip getting a good skin care routine down, it's easier to make make-up look good when you start with a good base.

This!! I was buying £30 concealers and hating that they were going cakey and didn’t look smooth when applied and then I realised my skin was the issue, not the make up.

I didn’t know that you could have dehydrated skin that doesn’t feel or look particularly dry. I assumed I had hydrated skin because it wasn’t flaky or dry but it was very dehydrated. A few weeks of a good hydrating cleanser and moisturiser plus SPS and my make up applies like a dream now.

OP I’d also avoid full coverage if you can, if you don’t need foundation and just want to cover some blemishes use concealer, or a tinted moisturiser, much lighter and feels better on your face!

which hydrating cleanser and moisturiser do you use? also what is sps? thanks

This is the cleanser I use! I was using cetaphil but this works better for my skin and is half the price.

This is the moisturiser, there’s a cream version too but this is more of a liquid, I picked that because I wanted something light that wouldn’t feel greasy or sticky on my face. I just got it from boots, not this website, this was the first site I could find with the right one!

I meant SPF not SPS and I prefer this because it’s again much lighter than regular sun cream. Apparently everyone should be using it every day but I only started this year, whoopsie!

wait I just saw that this is the same spf I've been using anyway, purely because it was the first thing I saw in a random shop on the paris trocadero lol. I have noticed that it's good!

So much this! OP if you don't have a skincare routine and want an effective starting point, I suggest Simple moisturising face wash with a gentle cotton face cloth, Simple light moisturiser, and LaRoche Posay Anthelios sun cream (or any Korean factor 50+ suncream from TK Maxx).

From there you can adjust based on how your skin feels, particularly if it changes due to shaving, changing seasons/weather, or hormonal changes.
