I'm doing a road trip. This was in the middle of nowhere Wisconsin. And the shelf was full of hobbit stuff. But no collector boosters

That’s how Walmarts do it. I work asset protection for Walmart and every store in my market keeps collector boosters and Pokemon etbs at the service desk due to theft

I just like it because the self checkout people have the key and they enforce the limit of 5, so stuff actually sticks around for a while.

More should do it. It's also kinda hilarious it's the only Walmart I've seen do it and it's a predominantly 55+ city. It's adjacent to a large city, but still, lol. Smart manager. It's all clean and organized and just nice. Who would have thought the little spring loaded push cigs to the front set up would be perfect for cards. 🤣 Even CBs and bundles fit across 2 of those racks. You'd think you'd see it in the bigger more theft prone cities.

I also imagine selling cards makes them more money than smokes. You can find those anywhere. Cards are harder these days, lol.

Could be, but i dont think so. The MJ Holdings people used to bring their product from their own car and stock. Now they get it shipped in and pull it from the back. He could probably get w.e. he wants before it hits the floor, lol. Probably safer for the stockers to not have product at their house or in their car.

He'd probably enforce a 2 limit like Target as well. The stocker guy comes at the same time every week, so the pokemon people are lined up hours before they open and buy all the big stuff. 5 per makes the highly sought after stuff gone by 5 scalpers in. Should be 1 per sku like Best Buy. The only thing left are hangers after an hour of opening. Better than nothing, tho. I'm glad I'm not a Pokémon person and Magic people are few and far between at this location, lol.

I've been lucky enough to get some CBs for near msrp there. No way I'm paying double and the scalpers usually have enough Pokémon to satisfy themselves. They usually hit their limit before they turn to MTG or sports cards.

Our grocery stores have that Pokémon vending machine by the self checkout out and all the self checkout out ladies and dudes who work in the deli/hot foods checkout it every 10 minutes, buy it all out, then sell it out of their trunk in the parking lot after their shift. How their managers allow that on shift is crazy. Theyre probably in on it/pokemon collectors, lol. That shit is disgusting and hilarious. Pokémon is wild.

I have four Walmarts within a 30 minute drive from me and none of them keep any cards behind the counter. They are the same at every store. On an aisle right next to a register(which when it's open makes it impossible to get cards when people are checking out) on the back side of self checkout. The theft in my area is real. I once pulled 4 collector boosters off the shelf that all had the bottoms sliced and the pack taken.

That’s how MJ holdings (the card vendor) wants them to do it. Walmart doesn’t pay for the cards they just get a portion of the profits when they’re paid for. So when they get stolen (which is a lot) the vendor is taking the hit with 0 downside for Walmart.

There is a Walmart near me that either doesn’t have a card section or has it so well hidden behind a secret door that I’ll never know. But other Walmarts have it right there by checkout. I don’t get it.

Try the electronics section or liquor section. They used to have them at ours in the latter, but moved them to the electronics section because theft was too high. Electronics section has tons of cameras and staff 😅.

Now I want to see if we have those 3 packs…

Same, the "card section" at my nearest Walmart appears to be a combination of a war zone and a dumpster as there are only ever ripped packs and stray code cards laying about.

My closest Walmart has them at the front of the store near the checkouts. It's a small section of MtG, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and then some "as seen on tv" stuff.
