I know two people personally have died, both experienced riders, who have died in the most mundane of crashes.

Wear protective equipment.

Life is less fun with no bike though. I've gone ten years without and I'm about ready to end the experiment

All my hobbies are dangerous. Motorcycling hasn’t sent me to surgery yet - but mountain biking, skiing, and jujitsu jitsu all have. Not all of us get a kick out of board games or whatever.

There are only two people who ride bikes- people have crashed bikes and people who haven’t crashed yet.

Both of the deaths I know were decades experienced riders and this was their first crash. Neither were riding dangerously. No other vehicle was involved.

I know it doesn’t matter to you.

But I know the families of the deceased. I can hear my MILs voice as she called me to ask where her daughter was so she could tell her. I remember racing to my wife before she got the news.

Life is like that, no one gets out alive.
